So i have a couple AR's, and thus far I've liked the magpul ASAP plate for the most part.  But as I am building another AR, and using the previous ones more, I have a major gripe about it.

As I was tightening down the castle nut with my wrench, It started sliipping and seemed to bend the nut slightly.  This happened on previous builds and i just assumed it was because the wrench i bought was kinda cheap, and i dropped it or whatever.

But looking more closely, I notice the way the ASAP plate sits, you only get about 200 degrees of free space where you can have the wrench seated properly.  Considering the wrench uses 3 points spanning 180 degrees, you really cannot tighten the castle nut well.  So when i was tightening, the plate pushes the wrench away from the nut, causing less contact and resulting in the stripping of the nut.

anyone else notice this?  comments, suggestions, alternative 1-point sling attachments you prefer (not the QD button ones though, don't want to buy another sling).

I went ahead and staked it at two places, i dont think it'll come loose (they haven't yet) but still disappointed

Can you modify the wrench to fit under problem area? Or try a small strap wrench.Or an extended  castle nut.  And last but not least use a spacer before the nut.

those look like a good option.  Didn't know they existed.  may order a couple and replace the normal ones some point in future

Magpul multi tool will work best for tightening.  Other wrenches are a bit short.
