After stopping by PSA (two different locations) and not finding squat I see that this eBay vendor has them for $16 each with free shipping.

Has anyone purchased buffer tubes from this seller?

I can't speak to the quality of that seller's items but I can tell you I know from first hand experience about 4 years ago I had made the mistake of trying to go cheap off of ebay.....  I bought a "milspec" receiver extension and the diameter of the threads created a sloppy and loose connection when the castle nut was screwed on. It never made it onto my rifle and was a huge hassle to return. I had to buy the one I should have bought at the beginning and when you factored the 2 prices, I overpaid. That was the last time I tried to save a few dollars, that I've found over time, you won't miss. From my experience, FWIW, stay away and get a good 7075 T6 extension from PSA or AIMS or a reputable place that is having deals right now.

Did you measure the diameter of the tube and threads to confirm Mil-Spec? I purchased a supposed mil-spec tube from someone who sells here regularly and it was not mil-spec,

No I have not measured it. When I opened it I did notice the threads were larger then the tube. The part number is the same on Anderson's web site for the 7075 Mil-Spec tube. So pretty sure it was Mil-Spec.

threads do not differ on the tubes between commercial and milspec.

i.e, they do not make receivers with different threads for the buffer tube.

only the diameter of the tube differs.

Depends on who is running the threader,ie lathe

Also to the OP,I had that tube in the link. I gave it away since the inside was rough and ready for the trash.

I have one, I got it for like $12 shipped though.  this back in the summer.  seems GTG, but I haven't been rough with it.  how would you know it's 7075?  I have a CTR stock on it that fits pretty good too

False. Mil spec tube is 1.148" Ø , threads are 1.185" Ø.  Commercial tube is 1.168" Ø and threads are 1.170" Ø.   Mil spec stocks will fit on commercial tubes.

I screwed up and awhile back i bought a buffer kit and stock, just a couple days ago i got to tbe point of installing them on my new carbine build only to find out i bought the brownells buffer kit in commercial and the magpul moe stock in mil-spec and the stock will not fit the tube. I too have looked at the tubes on ebay and if you look some do say they are 7075 and the really cheap ones are 6065 so be sure to read the descriptions !

Why is it when I hit preview I can see the picture but when I hit submit all I see is a link in the thread?

The pic works.

NOT all commercial diameter tubes have the slanted back end.  The only thing about them that's definitive is the outside diameter.  SOME MIL-SPEC stocks MIGHT fit on commercial tubes, but it's rare - and not necessarily a good thing.  The stock is supposed to be a slide-fit on the tube, so if a stock that's supposed to fit on a MIL-SPEC extension is big enough to fit on a commercial extension, it would be oversized on the MIL-SPEC sized tube.

While the actual physical OD of the threads on a MIL-SPEC receiver extension is different from the OD of a commercial tube's threads, THEY BOTH FIT ALL STANDARD LOWERS.  The critical difference between the two is that MIL-SPEC threads are rolled, which raises the peaks of the threads, while commercial tubes have cut threads - their thread peaks are essentially the same OD as the rest of the tube.

Was near a PSA store today and they just got in a buttload of mil-spec buffer tubes so I grabbed one while I was in there. That "instant gratification" and "build can continue immediately" thing.

But next time I'll go with Primary arms.

So far:

Be careful about buying AR parts off ebay.  Many of them are bogus knockoffs intended for airsoft applications, being passed off as milspec quality.  Some producers in China will even fake name brand markings to fool you.  Receiver extensions from trusted US suppliers are readily available and inexpensive. - CW

I view the buffer tube as a non-critical part but that doesn't mean that you can use any quality. If the buffer slides smoothly in and out, the threads install the tube tight, and the tube measures to specs, then you SHOULD be ok ,but I I use BCM buffer tubes just for peace of mind.
As for eBay, the AR parts for sale there are polluted with Chinese sub standard rip off  junk. .
