While installing a Larue barrel nut, I had the gas hole lined up, but it seemed too easy, so I tried to take it to the next one for good measure.  Ultimately snapped a pin on my DPMS multi-tool.

Does anybody make a wrench that can take more torque?  More than 2 pins maybe?

Thanks.

How high was the setting on your torque wrench?

Gem state armorers wrench, sturdy and does it all.  Wait on one if it's OOS.

So OK, I get a better wrench and (God willing) get the barrel nut off.  Now I'm worried that one hole back is going to be way too lose.  How do I approach that?

I'm 10 minutes from the Walt Whitman Bridge in NJ. I have a Gem State wrench, upper vise block and a fully equipped auto shop (torque wrenches too) with a large vise. IM me in the morning and you can come here to loosen and re-torque the barrel nut. I'll be in the shop till about 2 pm.  Maybe later if I get too busy but I try to be out by 2pm.

This happened to me word for word today. DPMS snapped. I bought a Wheeler delta series wrench and bent the pins at about 40# The LaRue nuts seem to not let the wrench get up tight to the flat and is hell on the pins
Wheeler wrench is crap. and the nut was 30# just barley past and no way will it make it to the next hole without Bubba arms.

PRI, if and only if you have a barrel without the gas block installed

I like the Spikes Tactical wrench. Pins are hardened tool steel so they won't bend.
