Is there really a difference between all of them? Best/worst brands? And for the bcm ones, what's the difference in the size of the latch? Thanks

Bcm. I like the medium and large latches.  Size is personal preference.   The  PRI gas busters are nice if running a can, but are quite pricey

I also prefer BCM large or medium. Some like the ambi charging handles

I run all BCM large latch handles. Even got rid of my Raptor for 2 of them.

I've got a BCM mod 3, Raptor and Phase 5 Ambi. The Raptor is by far the best, imo. I am interested to try the new Badger Ordnance one though.

The Raptor is my favorite by far. I have also used the BCM with medium latch and it was very nice as well. After getting used to the ambi Raptor though, there is no going back for me

the raptor is simply awesome, but for half the price you cant go wrong with BCM mod 3 or 4.

BCM mod 3 or Mod 4 is what I prefer. Very solid, action well and 'feel' just perfect.

I run standard mil-spec charge handles on mine with over-sized latches and it's perfect for my usage.  I'd rather spend a little less on a charge handle and spend that money saved elsewhere on the AR or for a box or two of ammo.

My favorite is the Raptor, but they're expensive.  I like the BCM Medium's pretty well and I've bought quite a few when they had blemishes for $25.  Unfortunately those don't come up very often.

Wait until you bend a standard charging handle with over-sized latch charging with one hand and put your rifle out of commission, if you at home fine, but if HD or at match that could be the end of you life, or your day. I prefer to run handles that were designed with that purpose in mind.

I've used some from Strike Industries, one a standard and one with extended latch.  They've done the trick for me.

I agree on the premiss of saving money for some items so it can go towards other more useful applications. But imo, having a better more efficient charging handle design is one of those items that are actually worth spending a bit more $ on. Up there with a better grip,  then say that awesome "mil-spec" A2 grip. But in the end of course, its all in what the user likes.

Fwiw OP, like many, I like the BMC med(Mod4). Have it on a couple of mine. The only bummer I see with them, is when sling'd and around on ones side, the handle will sometimes dig into ones body somewhat.

I've got a BCM mod 3 and a couple of Raptors.  I prefer the Raptors but I recently fondled a Fortis Hammer...I'm trying one of them next time!  It is beefy and easy to use!

BCM and be done with it unless you run a can.  Medium, the large will bite you if you shoulder sling your weapon.  On a AR10 class weapon go with the large for the ability to clear a scope if you use one.

thanks for all the responses guys, I think ill go with the bcm medium, and maybe when I have more cash try the raptor

just to be clear, is the mod3 smaller than the mod4? and what is the advantage/disadvantage to choosing an ambi handle?

Ambi handles can be charged one handed from either side of the rifle.

Yes. Sorta counter intuitive.. Mod 4 is smaller then the Mod 3. Mod 5 being even smaller.
