Anderson lowers, PSA lower build kits. My brother works for a company that builds Simmunition guns for LE departments. He asked me to help them save money by putting lowers together for them. He brought them to me on a Friday and needed them done the next day. So I sat up and did all of them that night. After you get in a rhythm it is pretty quick.

No real reason to post this other than, I think it is a cool pic and figured others here might appreciate it.

Here is the finished product.

I have done 14 more for him since this order. I used to use a brass punch and hammer to get the roll pins in, but this night when I did the 16 of them I needed to be quiet so as not to wake up the kids. So I finally tried the vice grips method of getting the pins in, and once I figured that out it made things much faster.

Yeah, I work with people for a living and ironically people stress me out. Tinkering and working with "things" and being able to see a finished product is a major stress reliever for me.

I did ten in an hour, and not working fast at all.

OP must have been porn surfing between each build.

I just broke my ankle the other night using a simmunition gun like those while instructing some men from my station ( I was the bad guy in the scenario, which is loads of fun, just need to watch where I'm running). We use old vietnam era m16a1 lowers (mostly hydromatics) for ours. They can be pretty finicky on full auto and you have to keep them clean but they are really awesome training aids. I think I learn as much as an instructor as the students do, much more useful than punching holes in paper or watching power points.

That is crazy fast. I started out moving pretty slow because it had been quite a while since I did it, but once I got in a rhythm it went pretty fast. At my fastest it still took around 10-15 minutes per lower.

The company my brother works for is looking into doing the "range program" with simunitions, where civilians can come in and train with it. Sounds like it would make for good training for sure.

GREAT JOB!

i agree with the others.. tinkering like that and getting "lost in the process" of building something calms me down too.

Wow! That looks relaxing and fun!

I did two lowers tonight (same exact config as yours...Anderson and PSA) and it took me less than an hour. Would have saved 15 minutes if on the second one I didn't troubleshoot why the safety worked but was very sloppy (note: do not use a pivot pin detent on the safety...duh). These were only the 2nd and 3rd lower build my mechanically declined self have done...so far....

Nice work. I'm a SLOW builder. I've had my fair share of take down pin detents fly across the room and putting in the bolt release roll pin makes me sweat.

I wish someone would come to me for such a task.

I'd be on it like green on grass.

Great pictures, those simunition rounds have a little sting to them coming out of a handgun, they hurt like a mofo coming from a rifle. The longer barrel of the rifle doubles the FPS of the round.
