I am an avid shooter/hunter looking to build an AR15. I have been around guns for many years but recently found myself wanting to build an AR. Due to my lack of knowledge on these guns I am here for advise.

So for starters I am looking for a parts list I cannot seem to find anything helpful on google. I know the major parts ie barrel, stripped upper, stripped lower, furniture, trigger, bolt carrier group, its the little things I need now. If you have a link to a comprehensive list that would be great. As well as tools I need.

I have few parts selected and will list my choices when I have gathered a few more for opinions.

Thank you for your help in this endeavor of mine.

Ill give this a shot.

Upper
Lower
BCG
Barrel, gas tube, FSB, Flash hider, crush washer, d-ring, weld spring, barrel nut
Lower parts kit
Buffer tube/spring/buffer/stock/castle nut/end plate
BUIS and/or optic
Handguards or rail
Charging handle

And that's about it, besides that you'll need mags and ammo, and the tools to assemble all of the above

Well, if all the info above doesn't get you going,     you shouldn't be building a firearm!!!!!!

As for learning the AR15................................................  spend as much time on this forum as you can and read everything here,  remember  read  10 times more than you type and it won't be long before you are a couch commando like the rest of us, lol!!!!!!

SH:  The build tutorial posted at the top of this sub forum is very useful in guiding you through all the little detail parts required.  Also, Brownells has a number of videos on YouTube that do the same.  You'll need a few special hand tools, starting with some roll pin punches for the lower assembly.  For the upper you will need a receiver block to hold the upper receiver in your bench vise and a wrench to tighten the barrel nut.  I don't use a torque wrench because the torque required is modest and (unlike automotive engines) the exact amount not all that critical.  Most late model handguards come with a proprietary barrel nut and an included wrench. Others use a standard GI barrel nut wrench. SLR and BCM handguards use a simple crescent or 1-1/4" open end wrench.  In summary, building your own AR is not difficult and very rewarding.  I say go for it. - CW

Thank you for the advise.

For starters I have been reading a lot (this site and others) and gathering a parts list. So far what I know for sure is that I plan to get a PSA stripped lower (sentimental reasons mostly) and then looking at a stripped upper from areo precision and a green mountian 16" barrel. I have a BCG in mind but still looking.

I still need furniture and the small key items.

If y'all have and words of caution with my current selections please let me know.

With things like a lower parts kit do you "get what you pay for" would it be wise to spend more or run cheaper?

Well I am not sure where your budget is, but I would look into a custom trigger from Geissele, and for furniture I would look at a Free Float Rail and lopro gas block. As far as stocks there are many good options I prefer Magpul.
