well after figuring out the look I wanted to achieve and getting all the parts, here is my version of an M60 bipod on a AR15 I just need to replace the gas tube and it should be good to go. The handguard actually prevent the bipod to rotate when in folded position. When deployed the rifle can rotate freely either way. Skillets: Nice work, reminds me of the M60 MG I carried for a while in the 2/28 Inf. It was a heavy mutha, a bit more than the BAR it replaced, but less weight than the .30 cal Browning which it also replaced. By the time you add in the M60's tripod, spare barrel and ammo, it was a heavy load for 3 people. All my M60 shooting was from the tripod with 5and1 tracers. It was like aiming a water hose, guaranteed to bring mucho hurt on anyone within direct fire range, .
Interestingly, the M60's rate of fire was considerably slower than what your video shows with the Slidefire setup on your AR. Its was also slower than the old .30 cal Brownings we started with, something the Korean War vets complained about. In old school infantry/armor tactics, you want the ability to put multiple bursts of 5 downrange as quickly as possible. The enemy doesn't sit still when the bullet start flying. The current issue SAW is about right, in that regard. - CW |

I have considered running a piston or looking into a different gas tube for real machine guns. But for now, I mostly just use the "rhythm method"—as in shooting at a sustained or rapid rate. I had previously estimated the average rate of fire at around ~650 rounds per minute... Put it on a shot timer and had a 16 round burst with all of the splits between 0.05 and 0.06.... That's a RoF of around 1100rpm (I also had some major issues regarding my FCG and I think it was just too damn fast....) |

The slack facilities a proper back and forth bumpfire action. Second, the ones I have don't get the gun off the ground far enough with bigger magazines. Finally...they look cool |
