Are those adapters the ones that need the barrel to be .625"? I would like one just on principal, but I do like the way I mounted mine.

Not that style. that would allow any style gun with 1/2 28 threads to use the M60 bipod. Similar to the one in this thread.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_123/550937_.html

MrM1A1 had the ones for the .625 barrel made. He may still have more. I purchased one from him and it was a very nicely made part.
heres his Thread.

I'll third that!  Look's awesome.

These retro threads have shown such incredible devotion and creativity to recreate with such authenticity for the legacy models, the fathers of today's modern rifle.

1/2 28 tap came in today.  This allows for 15 degrees of rotation in both directions. I may change it to 10.

Very neat part. How do you time it to center the bipod up to 12 o'clock?

with a crush washer. If you make the 2 wrench flats 90 it will be correct. there is enough rotation in the bipod to not be noticeable if you're off.

Hey, what about this idea?

Instead of having your hand behind the charging handle and pushing forward, why not use a VFG and attach it to the side of the rifle and use that so it is more comfortable to shoot. Just thought I give this idea out.

It sounds comfortable, but the off axis push might interfere with aiming

Believe it or not, the hand behind the receiver is the most comfortable spot to grab it. That's also how I was instructed to fire a SAW from the prone, so it's second nature to me. I'd think that a VFG wouldn't really allow you to keep both elbows on the deck, but if you can make it work I'd love to see the videos!

I dont. The rail I have gets in the way. I need to build a new upper and try a smaller rail and see if it works.

Im looking into a way to mount a m14 bipod next if possible. since they are easier to find, or a M249 bipod.

I've got a slide fire and a HK G3 bipod. Does an adapter for it exist? I could add it to an AK and post a drum dump vid if so.  That or I wish they'd make a slide fire for an HK pattern rifle.

Which part are you looking to find an adapter for? The Stock to the G3 or the bipod to the AK?

Yeah, my SF stock was $175 used, and the bipod around the same. I'm happy with what I have. It's surprisingly accurate.

Thank you. I'll take your last post as a compliment. Much appreciated.
I will take some pics, and give you an explanation of what and how it was done.  I use a Versa-pod 150-611 or 150-621 for the free float M60 bipod rail mounts. A non free float quick detach bayonet lug mount can be made from a Versa-pod 150-101 if you don't have a rail. I'm doing another one right now, and I can get some pictures and dimensions. I'll need a couple days. Thanks again for the funny reply. I'll get back to this thread. -William

ETA: Until I get back to you, here is a short video of that rifle at the range, 5 years ago, before I started making  the mounts for a free float rail. That is my Son shooting it. The Colt Lightweight in the front, is also one of my projects. Both are hooked up with quick detach bayonet lug mounts in the video. Enjoy.

ETA: 12/23/13 My apologies it's taken me so long to finish this up, I have most of the photos I need to be uploaded, I'll get it up and include a few details within a few days.

ETA: 12/27/13  page 5 for the photos. They are up. -W

I'm looking for a wide handguard endcap that accepts the HK bipod.  I was thinking I could weld or somehow fasten the endcap to something that would allow me to attach the HK bipod to either an AK or an AR.

That sounds totally doable, but I'd have to see the part. Don't forget the FAL bipod mod that's posted in this thread. Getting a new part might be cheaper AND clamping to the barrel is about as easy as it gets.

Could the two be indexed, drilled, and riveted together? Sounds like it might be easy.

Good day

I am currently getting all the parts needed for a similar build project, and i was wondering if a J&T distributing dissipator barrel would work. I seem to have a similar profile as the M4 at the muzzle

http://jtdistributing.net/store/product1245.html#1245

I will be using a VLTOR MUR 1A Upper Receiver as i like the angular look of it
magpul mow rifle handguard and YHM front sight. pretty much a near clone of skilletsUSMC project

for the lower im not quite sure what im going to use, but as far as the buttstock is concern im leaning towards a ACE ARFX skeleton as its remind me of the older m249 / C9 stock

Im open to suggestion and advice especially in regards to the barrel

Thank you

Sorry for the late reply

My setup will work fine assuming it's not a rifle length gas system. If so, that barrel will not work.
