THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
One last detail to decide. This is going to be a semi auto rifle but either BCG will work correct? Which should I buy and why. What is the difference?
Thanks,

Auto carrier will work better.

Semi carrier has issues with allowing the firing pin retaining pin getting bent/beat up. The auto carrier has more metal in it and protects the above pin from damage.

Also use a auto type hammer, without the full auto hooks of course. It lacks the notched cut that the semi hammer had from Colt. Seem to run smoother.

No reason not to go auto.
SECDEF Leon E. Panetta said Wednesday [02 FEB 12] that American forces would step back from a combat role there [Afghanistan] as early as mid-2013.

Thanks guys. We'll be using a RRA NM 2 stage trigger. I'm pretty sure my "stock" Rem. VTR has a FA BCG in it. The price is the same so we'll get the FA.

Either will work. The issue with the firing pin retaining pin getting beat up was with the SP1 style carriers that didn't have the shrouded firing pin. Having run an SP1 style carrier, I can say that Yes, the retaining pin will get beat up but it won't really affect anything either. I think most people simply like the extra mass a FA carrier provides vs. a SA carrier. It slows the cycling down a bit smoothing it out. If you decide on a SA carrier, you might want to experiment with different weight buffers to compensate to your liking.

As I said, I'm pretty sure the BCG in my Remington is a FA BCG. We put the Rem upper on our build lower and it fit and functioned perfectly. Both are full stock A2 style lowers.

We ordered a FA BCG from R Guns on Tuesday and got it today. ($120 delivered) Now with one to compare to I can see my Rem. BC is a SA. The difference in weight though is very small so I doubt that it will adversely effect function as compared to the SA BC.

Now waiting on the upper.
