As an afterthought, I use 1/8 inch thick X 4 inch X 2 inch lead strips to grip my AR barrels when using the vise blocks. Holds the barrels rock steady.

Hardwood blocks with a half round groove in each to give maximum contact. Make sure the blocks close on the barrel first and not each other.
For traction, we use chalk board chalk dust. Got a coffee can full of the stuff by the barrel vice. Make your own using an old cheese grater or coarse sand paper and a box of chalk. |
