THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Now this is my first lower, but these are not complicated steps. especially the mag button. so whose part is out of spec? (and no, I do not have a spare gun laying around I can swap parts with to see if a different button fit the hole or vice versa) |

I'd say it was the lower and not the parts kit. Try alil oil and see if that helps!

Put some calipers on the parts.

I vote lower. It's probably another reason they called it blemished....

Don't know if this will help or not. Once you start chasing one problem and solve it. Others seem to pop up. I've ended up chasing my own tail

oops, didn't know I couldn't get messages and IM's. I think I fixed that now.
I guess I need the interior height and width of the mag button hole. and the same of the button itself. my button is .503 height and .304 width. uniform front to back. my hole seems to measure .503 height at the front and .500 at the back, though the hole is more difficult to measure accurately than the button. |

This sounds, odd and..... Never mind.
The button should have on resistance in the receiver. One or the other may be off spec. Bet the button is. 458 |

My department armorer owed me a favor so I let him assemble my blem.
Same issue with the same parts kit. He had to file slightly on the button to get it to fit (less costly part). I guess the mag release button hole is out of spec on these. |

This sounds like one of the few times that taking sandpaper or "teh Dremel" to part of your gun is not a bad idea. Like madecov said, just start with the cheaper part.

I'm going to call DSA first. give them an opportunity to show me some love. if I have to I can file and sand, but I really really feel I shouldn't have to.

It is a blem, this was the only issue with the assembly. A tiny bit of aluminum black and it's good to go. I paid $55.00 for the lower since I split and order with a client (I am the FFL) and I had no transfer cost. In actuality if I average my cost I'm in the lower at about $35.00. For the price of these lowers and the finish being this nice I would just let it go. |

Nicole with DSA was very kind and asked if it was a 6800 ish serial number (yes) and that they had had a problem with some mag holes being miscut in that range. they're going to exchange it for me. so 3 cheers for quality customer service standing behind their product. thanks for all ya'lls help in pinning down the problem.

I've seen the same problem with several of the lowers I've put together for friends. DPMS mag buttons are the only ones that I have seen so far that will drop in without a problem. A couple of them had Del-Ton kits and the mag buttons in all of their kits would not work. Luckily for them I had several DPMS parts and swapped them out for them.

Just put one of my lowers together this morning. I too couldnt get the mag release button to fit ... however I believe the button itself is over sized. I took the cmmg button out of my cmmg lower and it fit in my dsarms lower just fine ... the del-ton button wouldnt fit in either of my blem lowers nor my cmmg lower .... so its pretty obvious to me that it's the del-ton parts kit that is out of spec. First time I've tried a parts kit other than cmmg ... guess I'll go back to them.
