Here is a budget build I just completed.  Im in NY so the (un)Safe Act rules apply.  The stock is pinned in place, No flash hider and no pistol grip.  The grip I have is the BoAR grip.  Its a unique feel but very maneuverable.

Start of my 5.45 AR. Voodoo barrel, Andersen Upper, Yankee hill gas block, mid length A2s, had a lot of the other parts laying around, AK74 style muzzle break. I eventually like would like to go crazy on this one and try to get AK style furniture for it. I would also LOVE to find a AK style leaf/ramp sight that can be put on the rails.

lower is just a cheap lower with DPMS parts I swap around between uppers.

First post here - thought I would share pics of the build I've been lurking around reading information and advice about.  The custom Teal Cerakote was a match for her wedding dress, and it was an awesome job.

It's embryo was an Aero Precision stripped lower, purchased as an anniversary present for the wife in November.  Lots of research and budgeting finally got it all together last weekend as a monther's day present.  She wanted it "Unique to her" so I went with a uniqueARs "blaster" upper in 223 wylde.   I found a deal and went with a Rise armament 3.5lb curved trigger, and it works awesome for bench shooting, clean break and very snappy reset.  The Burris AR322 prism sight was pretty awesome as well - mounted and sighted to about 1" freehand at 30 yds, then moved over to the 100yd to dial it in.  Works Great! wish I had a longer range

She only wanted to shoot a few rounds to test it then head to her mom's for lunch - ended up emptying all 300+ rounds out of my ammo can.  Now she's crying he shoulder is sore.

Since I'm new and limited in post size I'll add in mu struggles as a self-reply

First build, and after some fair amount of cursing at various stages and my lack of proper tools (ahem, roll pins suck) I got it all together but hit n00b roadblocks - was first stumped by it not charging - turned out to be a tiny lip on the aftermarket receiver end plate with dual sling mount loops I got cheap at midway, it was too thick at the top and catching the charging handle.  Ground that down and was working great until I tried to chamber a dummy round and it would not lock up.  Cleaned the chamber and still a no-go.  Then I had the brilliant idea that between brand new parts and the Cerakote on the inside of the upper I may have some tolerance issues, swapped out the BCG for the well broken in one off of my old A2 service rifle and it worked perfectly.

My first ever build, nothing too special, basic milspec parts. Still have more upgrades to do, and more learning to do.

14.5" Voodoo Innovations barrel with pinned Manimal flash hider, 13" ALG EMR V3, Surefire G2X in a Elzetta rail mount (soon to be mlok Arisaka mount) BCM upper receiver. The BCG, CH, and lower I stole off another build for pictures. I'll be building its dedicated lower soon. On the bright side, my scale says that as it stands, with an empty mag, I'm at 6.8lbs so I'm pretty happy about that.

when building a rifle for a women one must be prepared for much disappointment and changes of mind.  "That stock is too big, this barrel is too heavy, I don't like the angle of this grip, etc...."  Having been together for many years I was prepared for this eventuality with the "Teal Terror" (see thread page 151) and went ahead and purchased a pair of lowers when they were on special and saved some money on the FFL transfer - local guy charges $35 for first one +$10 for each one on same transaction.

Once hers was done, presented, and tested, I rounded up the box of leftovers and came up short only a couple things I quickly had shipped in.  so within 2 weeks of my first ever rifle build, here is my second one.  BallisticsAdv 18" SPR 5.56 heavy barrel with rifle length gas, same Aero Upper/lower combo, and an I don't remember where it came from gunshow skinny keymod rail.  The "too bulky magpul ACS-L stock, and random Primary Arms special bolt, and Palmetto LBK roundedo ut the combo.

and my favorite complaint she had - Why is this trigger straight, that is stupid.....thank you honey for the CMC trigger you didn't want. All there is now is to go optic hunting...

It's a Plano All Weather case. It's only used for transport to and from the range, never for a plane or security purposes.

I have that same Plano case in black for my SPR build. It's outstanding for $65 on amazon. Plus the two padlock spots work perfect for locking it up. I have no complaints for a low cost case.

Here are my builds. My first started with a striped Spikes lower and a Delton carbine kit. I changed the furniture to FDE Magpul and dyed some parts with green Rit Dye. I recently put the Vortex SparcAR on after my Eotech died.

My second was a complete build using Rainer Arms stripped receivers and comp, Noveske 16" barrel, BCM keymod rail and VFG, AIM bcg, and Magpul stock and grip. I used the left over money from my Eotech refund for the Primary Arms 1-6x scope.

Took the URX2 10.75 off my Noveske 'legacy' SR-15 and installed a Rifle Length URX3.

It does have a Knight's E3 barrel and BCG, gas block and tube, and a Mod2 CH.  There's also the NT-4 FH for when I get to bring home my corn cob

This rifle was redone yesterday as I swapped the URX3 Rifle Handguard off it and installed the URX2 10.75" over the KAC SR-15 M4 barrel.  It also has a KAC Aimpoint 30mm mount, 300m rear sight, 2 taupe VB 11-rib panels, and a KAC A2 taupe grip.

The SR-15 M4 barrel was purchased from Geno a while ago and cut to 14.5" and the YHM QD Brake pinned and welded.
