All I've gotten done so far.  I can't find my extended allen keys, so I can't finish assembling it until after I find them and tighten the grip screw... which doesn't make much sense because hopefully by mid-week I'll have the rest of the parts I need anyways.
Plan is: Lower: - Spike's Crusader lower - Spike's LPK - KNS Anti-Rotation pins - KAK Shockwave Stabilizer kit (with buffer and all) - MOE grip Upper: - Spike's 11.5" w/ BAR2 rail (got a smoking deal on the assembled upper with BCG & CH) - BCM Gunfighter Mod4 charging handle - BCM Gunfighter Mod1 compensator - Daniel Defense fixed front/rear sights - Viking Tactics sling - Streamlight TLR-1 It will serve as a truck gun until my SBR stamp comes back for the lower my 16" upper is currently on... then the 11.5 will go to that lower and the 16" upper will go on another stripped lower I've got. This lower will have a 9-10" upper, likely .300 Blackout, and serve as a truck gun on longer trips. I'll probably save for a T1 Micro and put it on the SBR, and then put my old Aimpoint on the pistol build. |

Here's my modest contribution. First AR 15 ever. I was going to get a 7.62x39 AK but my buddy talked me into putting together an AR. Been buying pieces here and there since April 2016 and just finished this. I'm looking forward to getting out to the range some time in the next few days for zeroing. Upper: Colt (I think) carry handle with the IBZ mod. Aero Precision assembled upper Alpha Premium Nitrided BCG (Saw this on Slickguns) BCM Mod 4 charging handle Faxon GUNNER profile 16 inch barrel Fulton Armory Power Wedge FSB w/ thinner sight post A2 birdcage flash hider Magpul MOE mid length hand guard that I stippled for some extra grippyness. purely functional so I didn't spend too much time making it look nice. Probably going to get some B5 hand guards. Lower Aero Precision stripped lower Spikes T2 Buffer w/ generic buffer spring LBE mil spec buffer tube (Still need to stake the castle nut) generic LPK from MidwayUSA Nickel Teflon enhanced mil spec trigger from Right to Bear Magpul K2 B5 Bravo stock that's been spray painted flat black MOE trigger guard Magpul QD end plate Hexmag series 1 stippled and color filled Quick photos from the back yard.

I figure for my first post this would work. I like to buy complete rifles and then let the modding/building begin. I love precision shooting more than plinking so my builds tend to err towards the heavier side. I have other weapons for the SHTF and HD needs.
In the twin photo are 2 DPMS based rifles. The bottom has already undergone it's rebirth, though you may not be able to tell. BHW barrel, a new BCG, match trigger, and a mean ability to keep my pet load under 3/8" AVERAGE at 100yds (5 shots off a rest, I am nowhere near that good myself). Many a 'yote, a few deer, and countless rodents have been sent to meet their ancestors with this little carbine. It was built for in brush handling and the ability to push the limit of the round. I want to put some JP goodies on it (MB, AGB, and hand guard) but don't want to chance losing the precision it has. 
The top LR308 became the base for what I hope will be a true 1000yd AR. It now wears a 24" BHW barrel, multiple JP parts, and is chambered in .260Rem. The critter in the foreground was from an 814yd shot (it took two to hit). Awesome gun to shoot as you can pretty much watch the rounds' vapor trail head down range with the gas tune, weight, and MB it has. My end goal is to make a 1000yd shot with it on some poor unsuspecting critter. 
I also have 6 Anderson lowers in my house for building for my wife and kids. I know they have a bad rap here (well, now I do), but for builds for kiddos to get them an AR, it is enough. Probably glean some ideas from here for their builds though. Pretty much the reason I joined was to pick everyone's brain since I will be left with 2 extra lowers for my own purposes. |

So, I've been away on work in California for the last few months and during my downtime I found myself getting the itch to build another 14.5 Mid-Length. The itch got worse after I started looking into the UIC Carbines from American Defense Manufacturing. Aesthetically, I thought they were beautiful rifles, functionally I thought having a fully ambi lower would be nice as well. Broke out the OD Green AlumaHyde II for the paint as well.
Lower: ADM Billet Ambi Lower Receiver Geiselle SSA-E Magpul SL Stock BCM Intermediate Length Buffer Tube Vltor A2 (or A3 if I'm shooting high pressure ammo). JP Tuned Rifle Spring (gets rid of the "twang" sound from the stock spring). BCM Mod 2 Grip (I switched out all my MOE grips to these. The ergonomics are so much better to me). BCM QD Endplate Seekins 60 degree ambi safety Upper: ADM Billet Upper Receiver ADM 13.5" Mlok Rail Faxon 14.5" Middy Gov't Profile Barrel Faxon Full Auto BCG Geissele Super Gas Block SilencerCo ASR Flash Hider BCM Mod4 Charging Handle Troy BUIS Primary Arms Advanced Micro Red Dot on ADM 1/3 co-witness mount Streamlight RailMount 1 Weapon Light on Arisaka offset mount. Here's my first Grendel! I've wanted one for a long time and I finally decided to upgrade the barrel on my first AR build. It was an 18" DPMS MK12 5.56 that has evolved a lot over the years. I'm hoping to take this setup to 1000yrds alongside my 308 Savage and I might even haul it around hunting mule deer. It will definitely be my go-to coyote gun. Hopefully she's a shooter. I'll be using 123 SST factory ammo then reloading the brass, probably with 123 SST's and 8208XBR. I bedded the barrel using loctite and lapped the upper receiver with the Brownell's lapping tool. Painted the SS barrel with Rustoleum High Temp Engine Paint. Just finished!

Recommendations are welcomed. Nice work. For low light use, consider a red dot and use something like a Streamlight TLR-1S at the 12 o'clock position on the handguard. It makes activating very easy with your thumb. Also the optic needs to be in a lower 1/3rd mount. |
