If you need a laser it makes sense to me to use the crimson trace models that can be activated by a switch built into the grip. Green lasers are easier to see in daylight. A lot depends on your purpose most common laser use is self defense or  deterence.

Yes. I have the IR version for use with my pvs14. I think it's better than the Lasermax because it has an auto shutoff. Although with a visible laser it's easier for you to see if it's on or not in case you bump it shooting in the day
