I know its not classified as a bonafide "weapon light" but the one I have mounted already has served me well. Im about to get another carbine set up and for the $60 price point, I am open to suggestions on something else. I do prefer, and plan on using the VTAC mount so it should be compatible.

For a more bomb proof set up a 6P or G2 with a Malkoff P61 drop in. All for around 70-75 new.

You mean a G2, as in G2X? Like what I'm already into or like the old Surefire G2 ?

-edit- NVMND, I see that the Malkoff drop in units are as expensive as the whole G2X light itself, so that does not fit with the price point question if I had to buy both

The G2X is seriously hard to beat.  Price is great, beam and runtime are very good.  Plenty bright for a lot of stuff.  I have 3 of them and they are great.  No issues.  Only thing I am not super excited about is that they went to a clicky switch this last year.  I much prefer their twisty tail cap.  But that's just me.  I may swap the switches out at some point on my clicky lights but  I am not sure I am that ambitious.

Streamlight Polytac? I had one that started on a shotgun, lived there for about a year and maybe 1000 rounds until it moved to an AR where it's seen a few thousand. Never gave me any issues and is less expensive than a Surefire.

G2X off the shelf, no mods needed, same output: $45-50 shipped off of Amazon.  I think that beats it by a bit.

Doesn't fit 18650s stock so no it doesn't.  What mods are you talking about,  the light is a drop in or just use the 550 out the front lumen stock solarforce bulb.

Any reason to not go with 6px tactical which comes with the momentary push / twist for constant tailcap?

Can be had for 75 on amazon although I don't know if there are counterfeit concerns there.
