Can a protected AW ICR123 / 16340 be used in an Inforce WMLX?

Got a response from Inforce is anyone cares:

We do not recommend the use of rechargeable batteries on our lights.
They can affect the overall performance.

It could damage the internal components of the light thus voiding the warranty.

I use the AWs in mine works just fine. I'd imagine their response comes because so many cheap batteries are out there they might not work as well and give the light a bad name, when in realty it's just the cheap batteries.

The 1.2v difference between a li-ion rechargeable and a CR123 primary shouldn't affect the circuitry. The worst that would happen is that the driver goes into an unregulated direct drive as most likely there's some boost circuitry in a single-CR123 light.

Do you use protected or unprotected? I have protected ones in my LensLight Mini. So I assume protected?
