I have a Surefire x400 and a 10.5" 5.56 for CQB - what's the best distance to sight the laser in for this setup, 25 or 50 yards?

Interesting, but I can't imagine we are talking much difference.  maybe .5".

That being said, farther is always better for these types of things, but if your gun isn't going to group at any farther than 50 yards, do 50.

Said 25 yards gives a 4" bullet drop at 100 yards I think, I will have to check.

Anyone else?

What distance are you intending to shoot it at?

Are you planning to cowitness with your day sight?

How far can you ID both the laser and the target easily?

I would sight it in elevation-wise for 50 yards, and windage-wise, I would run with the offset measured from the centerline of the bore, and keep that offset always in mind.

I'd say 50 yards would probably be standard, up to 100 yards would probably be max for a red dot & SBR.

What do you guys think?

I run a T-1 with KAC flip down sights that are co-witnessed.

In daylight you will not be able to see the laser past 25 yards maybe even with a magnified optic.
