Just wanna get some opinions. I have a dbal I2 red laser. Not sure if I should sell it or not. It's just plain badass to have!! I'm not gettig night vision anytime soon unless you guys think a gen 1 would somewhat work. it's mounted on my 11.5 sbr and I really don't shoot at night yet but for zombie apocalypse and easier night shots Is why I wanna keep it or use the money to fund another project.

Tag for interest. I am thinking about picking one up before their prices increase (see the TNVC newsletter). I hope to get some NODs in the next year to 18 months, so picking up the DBAL now isn't a bad option for me.

I will say that a visible laser has some utility; that is, you don't need NV to justify having it. Any time you can't get a good sight picture having a visible laser could be useful. Plus, as you mentioned, they are badass.

ETA: if it's a tan body I may be interested in taking it off your hands should you decide to get rid of it.

I would sell/trade the Dbal and pick up some NV. Without NV, it is just an over sized red laser. I already had NV when I traded my Dbal towards a higher end NV unit. NV is incredible useful even without an aiming IR laser. The vast majority of NV use doesn't include shooting even in a hunting role. Navigation and observation play much bigger roles than shooting. Although shooting with an IR laser is very useful as well.

Do your research and you can pick up a decent NV device for $1000-1500. Avoid commercial gen 1 units at all cost, they really aren't much more than a toy. Consider gen 2 the minimum to start with. Check out the NV section on the Armory board.

I think you put the cart before the horse. Without NVGs, I'd sell it. If you save up for a PVS-14 and decide you want an IR laser again, the OTAL Class I IR runs on a single AA battery... might be easier to find a spare if you're fighting zombies/ TEOTWAWKI

Thanks for your replies! I'm just going to hold on to it until I get some nvgs. Going to put a hold on a 308 I was building and pick a gen 3 up!

I love my DBAL but I also have NV
