THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Just waiting on an answer to determine which model I am going to buy - TLR-1 or TLR-1S for a tape switch setup! Thanks! |

Excellent, I ordered the strobe model, I figured it was only a few bucks more and even if the tape switch wouldn't work it, the lever on the tapeswitch adapter still would!

Yes, you can activate the TLR-1S' strobe w/the tapeswitch. However, for reliable activation I found I had to use the coiled tapeswitch instead of the 8" longarm tapeswitch as the coiled tapeswitch requires a little less pressure (the std non-longarm tapeswitch is way too pressure-sensitive for longarm use, IMHO, even the pressure of Ranger Bands is enough to activate it w/o any additional pressure).

Got it setup and have no problems at all running the strobe with the tape switch.
I did, however, discover that the Battlecomp Mossie mount I am using + the replacement tailswitch cap does not quite work- the tape switch tailcap is too long and you can't slide the TLR-1s far enough back on the Mossie mount to engage the cross slot. It looks like there is enough material to file (also known as 'butcher') a second slot farther forward and have it all fit. We shall find out very soon.
Slight fitment issue notwithstanding, I *really* like this setup! |

Dawg ,Did you see the pic they have at battlecomp.com , of the TLR-1 with the tape switch? Is your setup different?

It appears they have simply remove the replaceable recoil lug on the streamlight and simply slid it as far back on the mount as it will go. There is no way I can find to mount it with the recoil lug engaging the slot, and I do not want to rely on solely friction grip to keep my $150 weapon light on the front of the gun! The short term solution is I ordered a handgarud picatinny cantilever mount from Impact Weapon Components for $20. I would much rather have the light located over the barrel as it is extremely protected in that location (no smashing into walls, trees, or breaking if the weapon is dropped) but the Mossie Mount just doesn't quite work in the way I want- I will take out the package of various recoil lugs today and see if there is one I missed that works. |

Slight fitment issue notwithstanding, I *really* like this setup! I'm glad that you like my mount. In addition to the original MT2400FSB mount with the enhanced universal slot, I also make one with four MIL STD M1913 Picatinny slots. The TLR-1s with the tail cap for the tape switch will fit on the Pict version of the mount. Hope this helps. Semper Fi Buck |

I assumed it was the single slot mount in the picture.... |

I ran the Streamlight setup on a side rail FSB mount with the tape switch velcroed to my handguards for the Kyle Defoor night shoot, and it is a sweet setup! Worked perfectly, and very happy with it.
