Thanks. The Surefire Vampire type lights do both IR and Vis white light, but no task type ilumination. http://www.tnvc.com/shop/surefire-v2-vampire-led-light/ http://www.tnvc.com/shop/surefire-m952v-vampire-weapon-light/ Hope this helps. Surefire Kroma Milspec http://www.surefire.com/illumination/flashlights/kroma-milspec.html
I got mine from batteryjunction.com, sign up for their newsletter and wait for one of their ten percent off site wide sales that they regularly have and pick it up for $252 bucks. |

I bought a Vampire for $225 at my LGS and then searched for an older Surefire weaponlight and swapped the heads. I ended up having about $350 for a brand new direct copy of what Surefire sells for $600 retail.

You could go with an all-in-one unit, but I'm not sure I would throw it on a weapon. The fewer features the better.
I had an Inforce Color which has multiple modes and colors and can be either hand held or weapon mounted. That said, I hated it. It was never on the mode I needed, and after a couple hours of playing with it I almost threw it down the road outside of my house. Tactical lights, especially weapon lights should be easy to use and intuitive. Your best bet... Surefire Vampire, either an m620v or m952v paired with a Surefire FM45 Red Filter for 1.37" bezels. You'd only have on/off in one switch, a rotating bezel for white and IR, and a flip filter for red. M952vs can be had cheap for under $250. I've even seen them as low as $150. The filters are expensive, but to me it's a better option than messing with multi-function switches. They've been discontinued, but B&H seems to still have them in stock, and for under $100. If you can't find one, You could also try the red filter for the millennium light. However, I don't know if there is a 1.47" bezel which nearly fits, so I think the 1.62 filter may work with some sort of shim. You could probably use a bicycle inner tube. Just some thoughts. |
