Any good solid reason to replace my MOE with a Magpul SL?
I was looking at the SL because of the QD sling option.

Yes, do it as it is a much better stock.

I like the SL and it is my favorite general purpose stock.  The advantages over a MOE is that it has a QD spot and it does not wobble in any position (the friction springs/ fingers keep it from doing that).  The SL stock does cost twice what a MOE stock costs.

Got an SL-K today. Will try it out next week.
Replacing my CTR with it.
So far it addresses my issue with the curvature of the CTR endplate which curved weird and caught on my plates a lot. More to follow

For me the friction lock is worth it.  I own plenty of MOE's, but I really like the feel of the other Magpul stocks I own because they don't rattle.  Depends on the rifle and the price for my purchasing decision.

Bought and installed the SL and everyone was correct.  It is a silent, tight, solid stock. Glad I made the purchase.

Tried out the SL-K (cut down version of the SL) today at the range. It's a much superior stock to the MOE and CTR line. Especially if you're shooting with plates.

Magpul has the advantage of not having a giant hook at the toe of the stock.....

Like the SL enough that I broke down and got another to replace some other sloppy stock.

Thought about getting an SL-K, but ended up getting a LWRC Compact due to the QD points. It's good a good buttplate, good cheekweld, and doesn't seem to have any slop as far I can tell. My only real complaint is that it won't fully close with a Magpul QD endplate if you have the QD socket in, but I keep mine attached to the end of the stock, anyway.

Installed an SL-K last night and I really like it.

Aside from the UBR, the SL stock is Magpul's strongest in their line.

I like the SL as well, however the original MOE does still get the job done just fine.  I don't think Magpul makes a shitty stock across the line though.....

No. sounds like a defective stock. I bet Magpul would replace it

If you like the MOE profile get the CTR. I've tried many stocks thru the years from MagPul, BCM, B5, and MFT. In the end I went back to the CTR. I do have an MOE SL. The SL is nice and tight and in many ways is superior to everything else out there, but I still prefer the CTR for my purpose.

Doesn't everyone use velcro to remove the slop from MOE's?

No, we remove the MOE's to get rid of the slop from MOE's

I used to use 1 or 2 layers of 3M clear packaging tape toward the end of the buffer tube and my MOE was rock solid. I only switched to the CTR for the qd, the friction lock was a bonus.

I'm trying out the MOE SL to replace a Tapco. I like the QD connection. Still have a little bit of rattle, but less than the Tapco. I like the cheek shape.

Anyone know if the foliage green finish is the same on both the MOE400 and SL? Or is one darker then the other?

Thanks

Went from MOE to SL-K for my SBR, considering changing the MOE stocks on 4 more of my rifles now.

The springs on the MOE SL keep the stock tight, but if you go prone or push down on the stock with your shoulder, it opens a gap between the stock and the receiver extension that beard will get into.

When go dismount the gun, those springs clamp the beard shut in the stock and now you're fucked.

Loved everything about the SL, but damn it hurt.  Had to go back to a CTR.
