I looked around and couldn't find what I was looking for. When it's not mounted, what do you guys use to store "extra" upper assemblies? I could go cheap and stick it in a "kid's" rifle case, but is there something that's actually built for it? I'd prefer a soft case I could take to the range.

Would something like this work?

I think that's more just to keep stuff out of the receiver when you put it in a bag. I'm thinking more along the lines of a mini rifle bag. Almost a zippered fabric tube. I hate it when I can picture something and can't really explain it.

That right there - then they go on the racks or in the safes with the others.

But for OP's problem, perhaps cool-tube tubular six-pack coolers - padded and have a shoulder strap.

I will eventually be storing them on spare uppers, once I can afford to build a couple of the Spike's lowers.  Until then, I'll have to make due with one lower and a couple of uppers.  .50 Beowulf may be the next one, just to scare the crap out of other folks on the 100 yard line...  I like the tube-cooler idea.  I'll have to look into that.

I store extra uppers on extra lowers, but maybe something like a barrel bag would work?

I have a need to store an upper, so I bought one of these.  Very High quality!  The upper fits best with the optics removed, which is fine as I have QDs.

Doesn't have a handle, but wouldn't just a Bore-Store work? Depends on whether you need to keep your optic on or not (I have several STC2's)..
