Hey guys. Just installed a BCM stock and the lockup is nice and tight. Can you guys tell me which other stocks have similarly tight lock ups?

Magpul MOE SL is incredibly tight.  You pretty much have to hold the rifle between your knees and use both hands to adjust it

My VLTOR IMOD and EMOD are pretty tight but you can make any stock tighter by putting some tape on the receiver extension.  Some packing tape around the tube will do it...you can do a small strip down the top or go all the way around depending on how loose the stock is.

RAT is damn tight as well.

B5 stocks (in my experience of course. I've heard some people have had issues) as well as all Magpul stocks (minus the MOE) lock up really well.

MFT minimalist stock is reported to be VERY tight as well.

I just take a strip of electrical tape send put it on top of the buffer tube. It removes all play and even if the stock is backed out past the tape you can barely see it being black on black.

I have no rattle on my Magpul ACS.   I think the Magpul stock with the locking mechanism are all pretty tight.  I know the ACS is.

Despite milspec tolerances, not all milspec buffer tubes end up being the same outside diameter.  There will be variations.  And some people end up trying to use commercial stocks on milspec buffer tubes.  Those will definitely rattle, probably even with a locking mechanism.   While I don't have the problem, I've seen guys use the black electrical tape fix and it seems to work for them.

Funny you guys mention Magpul cuz my STR wobbles a bit. This is on my milspec DDV4M5. The BCM tho is great... I really hope it stays that way.

My Magpul SL is really tight also have the mission first minimalist and it is very tight as well. Both are nice.

Pretty much any of the Magpul stocks with a friction lock will lock up nice and tight.
My ACS-L has been great.

The Magpul MOE SL is a new design. There are two spring steel inserts inside the stock that lock it into place. It is very tight.

Just got the MFT Minimalist and it fits nice and snug on the Spikes buffer tube.

My STR has a little wobble. My Vltor emod was really tight at first and took effort to adjust back and forth. It doesn't really wobble, but it has  smoothed out as far a adjusting it. My b5 Sopmod has less wobble than my CTR.

My CTR locks up nice and tight.....the MOE from magpul...lol not so much

apparently the MFT stocks have a nice lock up as well

Which storage type stock would you guys say has the tightest lockup?  Like I said, my STR was a bit more wobbly/loose then I'd like and I'm not sure why that is.

It's going to vary depending on the tolerances of your receiver extension. I have 2 STRs and they all lock up tight on 3 different extensions I have

You'd think the STR or ACS flavors would, as they have the additional lock.  My CTR isn't rock solid, but it's tighter than a stock stock.

I just got a Mission First Tactical Minimalist in the mail and this thing is super tight with zero wobble.

I think it largely depends on the outside diameter of your RE and not the particular stock. I have a CTR that wobbles some on a RR Tube and an Emod that is really tight on the RR tube. As far as I know, Larue makes a RE with the largest outside diameter, so theoretically, any stock on their tube should be pretty snug. At the end of the day, black electrical tape costs almost nothing and will take care of the wobble.

I'd rather not swap tubes because the castle nut has been properly staked from DD. How exactly are you guys using the tape? Any concern it peels off inside and jams up the stock?

I do this but with 100mph tape and I run it on the inside of the stock so you never see it. Works great. I have commercial spec stocks that now work on a milspec tube :)

My Ergo F93 locks up so tight I use it on a precision gun. A little heavier than most, but the cheek weld and lock-up are worth it.

Damage industries ecs/ti-7 stock has leaf springs inside it that ride against the receiver extension. Not tight, not loose, no wobble, no noise and a bolt, firing pin, cam pin, couple sample packs of lube all fit in battery tube of which the caps have slots for fprps, 1 each. I love this stock, weight is about on par with an str.

Every std. Moe stock has been wobbly.  My Emod, B5, ACS-L and the CTR have all been perfect fits with barely a bit of wobble.

This.  It actually has a locking lever.  The second I found these, I started replacing all of my M4 stocks.  It takes a lot to make me change a setup.

I agree with the other members here, it depends on your receiver extension (buffer tube) outer dimension, they have manufacturing tolerances and varies, the maximum outer dimension of mil-spec size is 1.150".

My father bought a LaRue LT629 with the 1.150" held to the maximum size and every stock that I have fits snug on his tube, Colt M4 (gen 4), B5 Systems BRAVO SOPMOD, Colt-Rogers SuperStoc, Magpul CTR, STR, Vltor IMOD, and EMOD.

But when I try it on most of my carbines with Colt, LMT, and Vltor receiver extensions my stocks without the friction locks have a slight movement, the stocks with friction locks are snug.

My tightest locking buttstock is my Colt Defense-Rogers SuperStoc on any tubes, because it have an adjustable tension friction lever lock, I could even lock it in between the positions and it won't move.

If your areally OK with fixed LoP, the Magpul Fixed Carbine Stock fits on a carbine tube and is as solid as an A2.

[#37]
Remember that every buffer tube is a little different and that will affect how tightly your stocks fit. Vltor A5 tubes are known to be on the slightly larger side and fit more tightly with stocks, while your bargain bin no-name milspec tube can be undersized a tad and even tight stocks like the MFT Minimalist will wobble some.

Buffer tube is as important as stock when considering fit and wobble.

I have a MOE SL and it's every bit as tight as a CTR.  I love it.  Best stock I've ever used.  And I've used 'em all....

I would go with Magpul UBR or CTR. The BCM one is nice as well.

I second this, it made me wonder if PSA lied and sent me a commercial spec buffer tube with my LPK. After a few days of use it is now loose enough to easily move but still has zero wobble.

Daniel Defense...very tight.  Not even the slightest wiggle.  I have it on a LMT Mil-spec receiver extension tube.

I hear the new Hogue stocks lock up tight. Look good also. I don't own one, but am in the market.

Tightest collapsible buttstock?  Ace SOCOM.  Proprietary buffer tube and a little heavy, but it locks up rock solid.

For a bank vault lock up, I second this. Unreal tight.

Sadly, also heavy like an anvil. I'm usually not a guy who gets wrapped up in accessory weight, but the UBR is a chunky girl.

I have had a couple that electrical tape was not enough.
I got some Velcro. 1/2" wide 2" long. they come in 2 pieces. I use the thin one. they have tape on them already. just peal and stick.
