Padded VCAS FTW!

Depends on the rifle, mostly due to weight. My SPR build is 12.5# empty, so I use a padded VCAS on it, but my Recce build, at 8# empty, carries comfortably with an unpadded VCAS.

I only use unpadded. It adds too much bulk when wearing a chest rig/PC, Rifle, and a bag.

Depends on the weight of the rifle, 7 pounds or less l use unpadded slings.

Unpadded, less bulk, less weight. And if you are to use a sling in the true sense of the word as a stabilizing point between the rifle and upper arm for precision shooting, padding would not work.

Padded on my AR10 and unpadded on my light weight AR15....

Unpadded for me. As other have stated the padding adds to much bulk.

Nonpadded,,even on my often carried M1 Garand,,
So an AR is light compared to a 11 pounder |
