I am looking for a good quality range bag to fit the ar rifle 16" barrel snug with magazines (6?). Should have room for couple pistols and ammo.

Most of the bags are too big and the AR slides around, looking for a bag to fit the AR with butt stock all the way in snug with proper padding. No looking to breakdown the AR.

I have heard Voodoo tactical is decent.

I bought a Condor Tactical double rifle bag and while it's not snug on a 16" AR I'm not overly concerned about it bouncing around either. It has enough room for 6 AR mags plus a pistol and a few pistol mags.

I bought the 42" because I wanted it to be able to fit any of my rifles.

I have the Voodoo Tactical double rifle case and like it alot.

Yes its a lil long for the 16" barrel AR but, I slide my AR all the way to one edge use the extra space for a set of Binos or Spotting scope and made a foam fitted box for them.
It has 2 velcro padded pockets for pistols as well and lots of pockets for all kinds of gear....plus i added some molle gear too.

Natchez Shooting Supply normally has some Eagle bags for good prices.  This one might be a little long, but you could extend the but stock out to fit.

ETA: That should be pretty close to the right length because this bag is listed at the same length.

I really like my Drago. I don't put mags in the pouches, but they can fit several of them (5-6 in the sides and more in the middle). There are also compartments behind the pouches that are great for fitting targets, documents, maintenance stuff, etc.. There is a wall of padding that goes around the AR instead of just under and on top along with two velcro straps. It keeps the rifle very secure from what I've found. I believe PSA and some others (I think the Voodoo above is the same as well) make the exact same bag, so go with whichever is the cheapest.

Yes the 36" definaetly fits the 16" AR rifle better..... but I get more gear in the double 42"
Not too mention I can carry my shotgun and a my pistols in it along with the AR if I ever try my luck at 3 gun.

Got the 36" in coyote. Fits the AR great with stock half extended. Can fit 6 magazines plus some with the rifle or where the secondary rifle would go. 2-3 pistols, 8 mags and ears.

i have a PSA one which i think is the same as the voodoo, it just doesn't have the split in the big part, but the AR is a little loose when in the bag but there is straps, front 3 pouches hold my 7 mags and has room for more and medium pouch is roomy for ammo etc. it was $100 with 6 gen 2 mags. I saw it on sale the other day for $90 with 6 gen 3 pmags. theres a video on youtube of a guy showing it.

ETA: just this in email http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/6-magpul-pmags-mag571-blk-w-sig-sauer-black-single-36-tactical-bag.html?utm_source=CLEARANCE%3A+Magtech+77gr+OTM%2C+Gun+Bag+%26+Pmags&utm_campaign=Constant+Contact&utm_medium=email

I bought a "colt" branded rifle bag at cabelas a year or so ago. It holds a 16" ar15 nice and tight, sandwiched in foam. It gets thrown around my jeep when I'm bombing through the desert and I don't worry about it. They make a longer one too for rifles. It CAN hold up to 6 mags in each pouch (total of 12 30 or 40rd pmags) OR 6 mags in one pouch, a pistol and 4 pistol mags in the other.
