I have a new LE 6920.

The front sling connector is behind front sight and mounted
so sling will actually be on side of rifle.

New to me. Is this the "popular" way to mount a sling now ?

Yes, unless you want the sling mounted underneath the rifle so that it flips upside down.

There is a hole (5/16" MOL) thru side of original Rogers Super Stock,
Is this where rear sling attachment goes ?

Are you talking about the side sling adapter on the barrel under the front sight post? If so, those have been around for years.
