THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I'm wanting a Brass Catcher that's rail mount, but I need it to either be super easy to pop off, or swing away from the ejection port so I can *Show Clear* and chamber flag it during events.
Is there such Brass Catcher out there?

I have seen the 'wrist mounted' ones modifies with Velcro straps that was affixed to the handgaurd bu inserting a portion of the extension into a 1/4 inch tube. Slides in and out when unlocked from velcro.
Custom and effective...

Is there such Brass Catcher out there? If you find one, I'm interested... I'm imagining a Larue lever mount with a brass catcher attached... that would be perfect... Paging Mark Larue... |

Yeah get an E&L brass catcher, it has a mount to the flat top upper, then you just pop the catcher on and off.

The E&L catcher is inexpensive enough but I don't like how it needs so much space on the upper receiver rail. For me, that wouldn't work with any of my ARs because of optics.
The one by Leave No Trace is much more expensive but it can mount on the left side rail which is almost always available.

That's the one I'm looking at right now. I was hoping it had a hinge so I could swing it out of the way.

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $50 for that. |

From my perspective, with the cost of brass going up (I'm a reloader, it would pay for itself pretty quickly. ;) The range I frequent is easy to lose brass on. |

At the very least, it looks like it wouldn't be too time consuming to unscrew it. That might be a question worth posting to the manufacturer. Having quick access to the ejection port might be a handy thing to have in combat. ;) |

I am liking that Tactical Brass Bag. I may need to try one.
Do these brass catchers cause any reliability issue? |

3 bucc makes a nice one that has a rail mount and is easy on and off, it takes up about one slot at the front of receiver, brownells sells them for carry handlel and flat tops for like $60 and they are the best I have had and I tried most of them

I'd still rather have one that attaches to the side rail on a rail system. |

It is true it might be in the way of some optic mounts if they extend out past the front of the reciver, but the rail mount only has to be put on once and left in place then the brass catcher plugs in or can be taken right out,the mount is low profile and takes up one or two slots so there is no need to take it on and off.Hope you find one that works for you most are a waste of money.

I ended up ordering the base ($79.95) brass catcher from Tactical Brass Recovery. Once I saw they offered it in Multicam, I just had to get one.
It will be nice to get a 100% recovery rate on AR brass. |

I was using my brass bag today and was having some issues. Not to worry, it was all user error. I forgot to spread the bag open and then I noticed the zipper was left open. After that it was good to go.

In the American Rifleman July issue there is an article about Tactical Hog Hunting. They mentioned the Combat V Systems. I found it on Combat V TACTICAL. I think I'm going to get one. I've got that mesh one that UTG makes and works fairly well but this one looks like it will catch them all until it's full. Here's a references statement and price on their page for this catcher. The following are a few agencies that utilize the Brass Cop for training: Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Plant, Susquehanna Nuclear Plant & Whiteman AFB. $50.00
Here's the web page..... http://combatvtactical.com/BRASS_CATCHER.html |
