What's the older, still working, red dot scope you have?
I have a C-More, AR-rear sight model from about 2000 or 2001, still going strong. You? |
I have a Aimpoint M2 that I have had for about 15 years. It has served me well. I have had it on several different rifles over the years and never a problem with it.
I have a bushnell holosight still plugging along on a 22. Must be 20 years old.
Doctor red dot, mounted on a Trijicon. Came like that. At least eight or nine years old.
My SPOT red dot. It's been on many different rifles over the years, still going strong.
I have a Tasco red dot on a 10/22 that I got in 1994. Works great and holds zero. My Aimpoint Comp is from 2005 and it is still in a working ARMS mount... .

Both of mine still "work", but the reticles seem awfully fuzzy, and I stopped using both years ago due to their tendency to eat batteries. Oldest one I still use that I'd buy more of if I could get them at a reasonable price is an OKO that lives on one of my .22s. |
I've got a couple of old C-more's that are 12 and 15 years old that keep on chugging along. One on a .38Super and the other on a 9mmMajor pistols.
A 12 year old oko.
Been on my ultralight since new. Still works great. Txl |
I have a Simmons 5 MOA red dot with 30 MM tube I bought in the late 90's. Still works and still use it on a rimfire AR-15. Not tacticool but still is functional with 1" riser.
Was an old Aimpoint M2 I got off the EE yeeeeeeeeeeeeears ago. Finally died a few months back.
Aimpoint comp m since 1999 in an arms mount. Changed batteries 3 times. Great dot sight.
Comp m here too. Since the mid 90's. Has a couple of coats of paint on it but still works fine. David

Aimpoint 1000. I got the thing in the mid 80's. Very small viewing area compared to newer models.
After review (it came out in 1987) so I must have purchased it then. It was a brand new thing when I got it. Oh, I forgot about the Weaver Quick Point that my dad got a long time ago and is now in my collection. It's the thing that does not use batteries but uses a plastic fiber to collect light. |
16 year old EO Tech, that I had to pay $85 ish to get fixed when it "broke."
In hindsight, I'm fairly certain they charged me to fix the issues they knew they had before they had to be honest about it. |
6 or 7 year old cheapo Primary Arms red dot on my SW M&P 15-22 still works great. No issues.
Recently sold a working Aimpoint MKIII that I bought new in '81 or '82.
Oldest I have now is an Aimpoint 1000 from '83 or '84. |

I have an Aimpoint Comp M that I bought a long, long time ago (90's?). Its been through the wringer on several different rifles and still going strong.

I thought I saw the newer looking Mepro Mars sight on that netflix original Narcos show and thought to my self those are not as old as the 80's scenes they were portraying. This is what may have been on those rifles now that I see this thing. |

Kind of big in today offerings, but what a red dot from the 1980s!! Israeli Defence Force used them. Auto dims/brightens with ambient light around you (feature I have not seen on today's models) Mine is on my classic Colt SP1 and perfectly co-witnesses with the sights. |

I actually own two, Yes I love the auto dim. This one in the pics I purchased in 2005 for maybe $250, the second one I purchased about 4-5 years ago for around $175. Both with original boxes and all the hardware. |

I have an Aimpoint 2000, those were discontinued in'89. Not sure how old it is, but is works perfectly.
I also have a Aimpoint 5000 XD that works perfectly. Not sure of it's age, they were discontinued in 2001. Aimpoint still services the 5000 XD. " /> |

Tasco Pro Point I bought in 1997 or so to go on my Ruger Mk2. Killed many squirrels with that setup.
C-More Colt Tactical. It's been on one AR or another since 1999.

I have an old CompM XD that is still pounding away on my Noveske. Not sure of the production date but I know it's pretty old.

Tascco red dot on my deer shotgun...22+
One dot setting (#3) is burned out but I always turn it all the way up. |
Singlepoint OEG (non electrical or H3) red dot having the clear round sphere nose at the front. From early 1970s/AR SP1 times. I have found and use better ones now, but it is still useable.

Armson OEG on a Mini-14 mount from 1987. View Quote Me too, along with an AR-15 handle mount model. They were news makers when they were first released. These sights are very fast for snap shooting, not designed for precision work. The two eye system is hard for some people to get used to. |

Ultradot, bought in the early 90's. I showed up at a MG shoot with it on my shorty, and got a lot of quizzical looks. However, everyone that shot it loved it as they learned the virtue of a red dot. After a lot of rough handling, and plenty of FA use it's still fine. Battery life is nothing like what is available today but it's still a hell of a sight.

I have a ProPoint on my bullseye pistol. Same battery since 98 and works like a charm! Granted, I haven't shot a season with it since 2001, but damn! See if you can make it past 5 years with a AA without it leaking everywhere.

FWIW switch to lithium AA or AAA batteries in every electronic device you plan to keep. They don't leak. |

1999 Tasco PDP Comp 5. Still works fine although the rheostat no longer has clicks..

Got you all beat....
I have a Nygard reflex sight from the 1940's. It has a white dot/ring and is intended for shotguns. I don't have a pic of it, but it is pretty steampunk. |
