Are the current Eotechs out there ok? I wanted to get one but I dont want to buy something thats already fucked up
View Quote

No they are not. They all have an inherent design flaw that cannot be fixed.
EOTech's official stance is that you will have to re-zero as the temperature changes. If you are OK with that, buy an EOTech. If you are not OK with that then stay away, and get refunds for any you currently own, like we all did.

The temperature change does not affect all units. Mine was minimal if any, with the POI shift. Mine DID have a moisture infiltration issue.

The temperatures it shifts at are pretty far below freezing. They are chaotic in that they don't shift evenly or predictably within the same unit even.

With temperature, you will see predictable  variance in vertical POI. That's just normal ballistics. The EOTech POI shifts were in every direction and were completely unpredictable.

The thing is all guns will shift zero in different  temperatures.  Air temperature and humidity all plays a role

Eotech released information that they knew their product was faulty, and that THEIR design was the cause of shift.
With this information, it's hard to understand why you're interested in defending them?  They admitted the fault, and it's such a big deal that they are willing to buy back any of their sights.  For a company to decide to do that, they must understand that they messed up, as should the public/customers.

UPDATE 3: GOT MY CHECK. FULL REQUESTED AMOUNT $490 accounted for sticker price on the box I sent in, plus North Carolina sales tax at the time of purchase. They added in shipping costs.
Took about 2 1/2 months total time.

Still no update on check.

Return claim filed:    14 January 2016

Email authorization: 21 January 2016

Shipped out unit (1): 28 January 2016

Delivered:                1 February 2016

Phone call for update:  14 April 2016 - call back in a few weeks, no info
Phone call for update:  5 May 2016 - can't find anything, will call back
Phone call for update:  11 May 2016 - found sight/claim, check will mail next week
Phone call for update:  8 June 2016 - check didn't mail, not sure why, don't know when next checks will be issued-could be awhile.

Received payment: still TBD - again & again

Very frustrated with the process.  The customer service person I talked to today couldn't even give me a reasonable answer why the check didn't ship four weeks ago.  He had to put me on hold then talk to the manager.

He said the manager couldn't give him a reason other than there must be something I didn't include in the claim - but as I told him, there are only four items, and I included every one:  model, serial number, manufacture date, $.  I even told him I could send him the "Return Authorization Request" e-mail that has all the items when EOTech approved the request.  He couldn't give me an answer, just that it will be quite awhile before they run another series of checks.  Not happy.

I emailed [email protected] with a status inquiry and received this:

Thank you for your email inquiry to the EOTech Refund Center.

It may take up to 3 weeks, possibly longer if experiencing high volume of returns, from the date your product arrived before it is processed and entered into the system where we can confirm that it was received.  In the mean time you can keep your tracking information to verify as proof of delivery.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

So just to confirm, you can still send in your EOTech for a refund, correct?  Is there any cut off date for manufacture of the sight, beyond which you can't get a refund?

One of mine is starting to lose the brightness on the 65 MOA ring - a sign of N2 loss from what I've read.  It's done well to date, but all red dot's are getting passed up by the 1-4 or 6 scopes that are out now.  Why bother with a 1x red dot only when you can have an actual scope with a lighted center dot, magnifaction, bullet drop markers, and the backup ability of the cross hairs if the electonics die out/batter is dead.

I have an XPS2 that has seen hard use and is pretty beat up (still working condition).

Has anyone had a return rejected based on the condition of the Eotech?

If you read the lawsuit you would have seen it was at 32 degrees F that the thermal shift began. that isnt that far below freezing,

This is what they'll honor (dates matter, since they indicate when EOTech atually fixed said problems, EOTech will also verify your alleged problem).

Looks like I screwed myself over $100 by putting what I paid in 2012 when new.

Oh well, they made right and it's all about integrity.

I got back about $5500 and replaced the magnifier combo sets with Leupold VX-R 1.25-4 Patrols in Mark 2 mounts and had enough money left over to get a Mark 6 3-18 M5B2 for my .308 bolt action.  I still complained bout the $60 they shorted me for shipping.

I was planning on keeping a new 556 I picked up when they were being closed out. Somehow a chip was nicked out of the hood. Can't find a replacement hood for this model anywhere.

What's the guy's email people are sending these to? Might see if I can get a used one in good shape from them.

OR

if you have a 556 that you are sending back, let me pay to swap hoods.
