I just bought a VCOG and have a question about the optics.  When I have the scope set on 1 power, items within 15 feet view at true 1 power.  Meaning that a trash can at 15 feet looks the same size through the scope or with a naked eye.

At the same 1 power setting, a trash can at 30 yards looks smaller through the scope than the naked eye.  Is this right?
In order to see the trash can at the same size at 30 yards, I have to turn up the magnification to almost 1.5 power.

I thought that at 1 power, things would not be distorted at any distance.

I have never owned a first focal plane scope before, and am wondering if this is just how they work.

Any input from someone who owns one would put me at ease before I send it back to Trijicon for 6 weeks.

Thanks

I own one and have not noticed this issue.  In fact, I was shooting at a 15 yard target this weekend with both eyes open and did not notice the issue you described.
