Well I have been patiently waiting for them to go back on sale (Tax days and Black Friday) and I have been rewarded.... 1-6 ordered this morning....

I'm using woman shoe logic and saying "I SAVED $200!"

Instead of "I spent $816" (With shipping).

Pics to come later. Blah blah blah.

I got one in the initial tax sale.  Took a long time to get, but it is an awesome optic.  You'll love it.

I waited a year to get mine in the intitial pre-order. Worth the wait. It is a great optic, especially at $800.

My requirements for a scope:

True 1x.

5x or more at top mag.

Mil/Mil

FFP

Illuminated

More than 10mils holdover marks. Preferably 25+

I currently sport a 1-4 on my carbine but i find myself wanting more at the top end. My old 6-18x on my Bolt gun i find using on 6 a lot so figured a 1-6 might work well.

The next requirement was to have MORE than 10 mils of holdover.... for the love of all that is holy why do I keep seeing BDC scopes? Oh great so i have hashes for 100, 200, 300, 400, 500.... if i shoot 55gr .223. other than that, goood luck becuase we won't even tell you what the MOA/MIL equivalent on those hash marks are supposed to be. it's just a "close enough" mark. The ring on the 1-6x? 28.5mils inside, 31mils outside on top of the 20mils of marks on the croshairs.

everything else on my list is a check.

We'll see how I like her.

Im looking at the sale too.

What is a good mount for the SWFA scopes excluding the SSALT mount?

Im running a Aero Precision extended mount. Helps keep the total weight down (the scope is not the most petite girl at the dance)

I know that's what I want. But im not enough into precision shooting yet to get the LaRue.
What are equivalently budget options to the LT-104?

This is my first scope purchase for a match barrel and bolts setup.
I really do appreciate the help.

I Run a left-side charging upper so I wanted to have NO protrusions on the left side. So I'm running a Vortex cantilever.

I've been thinking about upgrading from the vortex viper 1-4x. Have any of you guys been able to compare the two scopes?

I went by the SWFA new TX retail store today and picked up the SWFA SS 1-6x scope to get it on the last day of the $200 discount.  I've been running a Burris MTAC 1-4x on a Larue mount...great scope for the money.  Felt kinda weired when I was driving back...like, gulp, did I just do that?  Still in the box...like I don't want to scratch it!  Also got the throw lever and end caps...figured if I'm getting the scope I minus well go ALL IN.  Not sure if I want to put it on the Stag 3g or frame it and just look at it!

I was up in the air with it. It was a lot of money to drop on an optic in a spur of the moment purchase. Hopefully, they run it on sale again for black friday.

If I remember correctly they ran a black friday sale with a bundle of items that included the 1-6, but not the scope alone.

I could be wrong, but I remember being disappointed in their sales last year.

Last year's Tax Day sale had the 1-6x at $799 instead of $999 so I was waiting for that and BAM it happened.

I got mine today. It was worth the wait. Last year I decided to pay my taxes instead.

I have been mulling over this purchase for a long time. I really wanted the SS 1x6 but I knew it would eventually go on sale.

As soon as I got the email referring to the Tax Day sale, I set a reminder on my calendar and ordered it first thing in the morning.

I can't wait to get this piece of glass on my current RECCE build. If everyone said the scope is a steal at $1,000 then it must be armed robbery at $800.

Anyone have any mount recommendations? I was thinking of a ADM Scout or Recon.

From the wrong Post Office...... It obviously never made it to me..... Fucking first time I've ever had an issue with USPS in my area.

It's now back at the area Hub being sent to the correct post office this time? I'm not even sure.

I've owned both. The SWFA has a little better glass and is built like a tank. The PST has a better reticle and more tactile turret clicks. I personally enjoy using the PST more. IMO, the biggest downside to the SWFA is that it's FFP, it's simply a bad feature for a 6 power max scope. YMMV.

I am looking at this for a .300 Blackout. Is the illuminated portion of the reticle useable as a reflex sight in bright daylight? At what power does the reticle become "useable" in your opinion? I am hoping to  zero with the supersonic ammo and hold or dial with the subs.

The reticle isn't 'daylight bright' in mid-day sun.  The unlit black reticle is however very bold and very fast / easy to use with no illumination.  The illumination is there for low-light or nighttime.  It's not designed or needed for daylight with this particular reticle layout.

It's usable and fast on 1x as a bold circle and crosshairs, while the mil hash marks on the crosshairs become easy to see and use around +1.5x (although with good eyes you can use them on 1x). The thick outter duplex lines that start at 6mil are easy to see on 1x and may be useful in a subsonic blackout application.  I use them for close range (5-10y) holdover to compensate for height over bore.

My new scope is still in the box in the gun safe.  I have a Laura QD mount (on the MTAC 1-4x), but because the SS 1-6x is heavier and I'm going to try to not remove it, I ordered an Aero extended scope mount...it is ultra lite at only 2.98 oz.  All going on my Stag 3g 3 gun rifle.  Now that I am over the sticker shock, I'm looking forward to getting it together once the mount arrives.

Lets all post pics of our mounted scopes once we get them setup.

Also a note: Accidentally left the scope ON on power lvl 8. Soo like at least 20 hours of ON time. Picked it up last night and was like "WTF!? It's ON!". Battery still works .

I received mine yesterday along with a new Bobro mount. Impressed all around by both so far.

Here's a quick picture I snapped with my phone

ETA: Switchview Throwlever and Butler Creek caps should be here ina  few days.. needless to say this thread cost me a bit of money as well!

It's heavy and the zoom is too stiff, but it's a really nice piece of glass.

Damn looks like my rifle!
Noveske, VTLOR, Geissele, Shilen/Rainier 18" and an SWFA.

Agreed on the heavy and stiff zoom.  At least the +$$ switchview lever solves the second issue.

(Forgive the iPotato pic.)
