We wanted to give ARFCOM a look at Sightmark's new Wolfhound series of prismatic sights.

Prototypes were debuted at SHOT this year and as we are nearing production we thought you guys might like a preview.

The Wolfhound will be available in a 3x or 6x version, the 6x having an accessory rail on top.

The reticle is a .223 BDC reticle for 55 & 62 gr with ranging  based on the width of a silhouette

The body is 6061 aluminum with a durable rubber cover and each unit is IP68 waterproof and dustproof.

MSRP will be 419.99 for the 3x and 479.99 for the 6x

I like the dual-weight BDC, is/will a QD mount be available? What battery type & estimated life? Thx...

A base that fit into carry handles & ACOG mounts would be a pretty popular option, I bet.

Very cool!  The 3x looks similar to my old Primary Arms PAC3X scope, but the Sightmark looks a bit less cumbersome.

If this isn't already in production, offset mounting that would allow BUIS under the optic would be optimal.

What is the projected release date?

A suggestion: modify the reticle so that one side has the averaged holdovers for 55 and 62gr projectiles while the other side has averaged holdovers for 77gr .223 and 147gr .308 projectiles. The width of the holdover starting from the vertical line should subtend either 18" or 0.5m for ranging purposes. Lastly, add dots or hashes on the horizontal plane 0.5mil center to center to the 6x reticle. This serves for windage, leading, and ranging purposes. Turning the rifle and scope sideways will allow the mil scale to range the height of an object as an added bonus (I learned this from Koshkin's article on Stadia vs. Scale reticles on opticthoughts.com)

This would provide value to shooters who stock up on surplus for range fodder and buy or handload heavier target loads. It moves this product into a second market segment of .308 shooters. And it provides a second ranging method to the higher power scope where it is better suited.

Not sure where the fixed 6x fits into,  but I like the idea of the 3x. However, the 24mm objective kinda kills it for me. Why not something with a little larger FOV. I've been waiting a long time to see a cheaper but reliable alternative to the 4x32 ACOG.

Well I'm sold on the idea, I've been after a decently priced 6x optic for quite some time now, looks like the Wolfhound will tick all the boxes for me! Now to start watching the pages for when it arrives in stock...

Hopefully it won't be export restricted

One huge issue most manufacturers forget...................................

What spec did you use for the 55gr and 62 gr muzzle velocity? Almost EVERY rifle these will be put on are running 16" barrels. Not even close to the "listed" velocity that the military gets from the 20" ones. Big difference when you need drop to be correct.

Any sign of the wolfhounds yet? Opticsplanet have had a 1-9 day backorder listing on them for quite some time now but I don't want to go ordering until I know they actually have a chance of being in stock.

I am very interested in these optics. I will probably have to get both one for the AR pistol and one for the rifle since weaver is being tight lipped on their 3x optic. Good looking optic for sure!!

I see the dispatch date for the wolfhounds from Optics Planet has dropped from 1-7 days to 1-3 days, does this mean they're almost in stock there?

Can't wait to pull the Chinese ACOG copy off my AR15...

I want one of these so bad I literally have this thread setup as a tab that opens when I start my browser, will even doing one of them youtube review thingies when it arrives - could be well timed for the end of winter here so it may be tested on goats that are still wearing their winter phase coats!

Will these be cross compatible with acog or any other types of mounts?

The 3x and 6x mount and body are an extruded, single-piece of aluminum. So it’s not possible to swap mounts. Future models we’ll consider this for improving the products.

I'm torn between ordering this as soon as it comes to test and do a mini review or just wait and see if you guys eventually come out with one that accepts ACOG type mounts.

For what it's worth, I've never really considered buying any Sightmark products until I got a feel for your Ultra shot M-spec.
