Looks pretty close to what I have written down for some of those ranges, I'll test it out next time I get out to the 600 yd range. Thanks!

@CastorTroy

Is that reticle identical to the ACOG ACSS reticle? If not, could you contact them and find out the subtensions?

400=5.95
500=9.6
600=14.15
700=19.65
800=26.25

Thanks!!

Does this look right for bullet drop? I assumed 2.75" height over bore and 500 ft elevation.

Does this look correct for the line thicknesses and color of the reticle?

@castortroy

Here's what I'm seeing. The blue lines are 100 down to 800 yards. If you zero so the center is POI=POA at 100y, you're off by 100y. Even if you zero so the center is POI=POA at 200y, you're still off by 50y. I plugged in M855 from a 14.5" and 16" barrel and it lines up in between those.

Please email Trijicon and get the subtensions for that reticle, I don't have them.

Is it mounted on a carry handle or flat top?

It will be mounted on a flat top, and these are the subtensions my google fu came up with:

BDC @ 200 .8

BDC @ 300 3.0

BDC @ 400 6.0

BDC @ 500 9.8

BDC @ 600 14.4

BDC @ 700 20.3

BDC @ 800 27.8

And here's the reticle:

Here's what I get for your drops:

100m- 0 MOA
200- 1.4
300- 4.3
400- 8.3
500- 13.5
600- 20.4
700- 29.2
800- 40.2

Perhaps my numbers are off or your subtension numbers are off, please double check everything. The blue is your impacts:

I confirmed those subtensions with Trijicon.

What if the zero is set at 50 yards as opposed to 100?

@MandPdude

Do the calculated drops look reasonable?

This is with 300m POI = POA, about the same as 50M POI = 100M stadia POA

The dimensions on the right are how far off they are in MOA. At 100M. That's 1.5" at 100m, 5.0" at 200, 4.6" at 400m, and 13.7" at 500.

For some reason it seems farther off then the calculators that I used (no offense, you know more about this than I do).

Most people have said that with the TA-01 mounted on a flat top (approx 2.7" height over bore) on a 14.5" rifle, zeroed at 50 yards, shooting .55 grain 5.56, matches up with the BDC pretty well out to 600 yards.

Here's the numbers I used. 2.75" HOB, .243 G1 BC, 55 gr, 3050 fps, .224", 500 ft altitude. I don't shoot M193 so I'm not sure on the BC. This reticle is in meters instead of yards. I can change it the blue to yards but realize that the width of the stadia rangefinder won't line up perfectly.

3165 seems optimistic for a 14.5" barrel

Here's a couple with yards instead of meters. Just keep in mind that this way the ranging is off by 10%. If you range a target at "500" with the reticle, it's at 500 meters/550 yards and you have to aim in between the 500 and 600 lines.

123gr SST BC is really .462 G1.  Don't use .510 value.

123gr AMAX is .468 as well.

Of all the 123gr cup and core target bullets, the 123gr SMK and Scenar have the highest BCs at .522 and .527 respectively.

123gr BTHP Hornady American Gunner is .450 G1/.225 G7.

130gr Berger OTM Federal Gold Medal Match is .564 G1/.290 G7 Litz.

130gr Nosler RDF is .615 G1/.307 G7.

Great thread by the way.  Not sure if I recall seeing it before.

Conditions will change everything, but it's still nice to have some references.

Here's where I was with a 12" Grendel using the GRSC 1-4x24 out to 800yds.

Red dot indicates POI at 6600ft elevation, 75°F.  I think I'm zero'd at 150yds after looking at the data when I got home.

Will be working more with these scopes.  Got the 1-6x Japanese Light Optical Works model in on Wed.

Impacts appeared to be dead-on out to 500yds.  I shot some close range steel with center holds no problems, even bowling pin sized steel within 200yds. Smack smack

Went out to 400yds, impact, impact.  500yds, impact, too easy.  800yds using the 600yd circle, was low, came up, impact, impact, impact, impact, boring.

My dream would be being able to custom order a BDC reticle however you want it. Then no matter what bullet, velocity, elevation, or height over bore it will be on.

Hornady and Sierra publish those BCs, Hornady with doppler data across 3 different Mach bands, and Sierra across 3-4 different Mach bands as well.

120gr GMX is .450 G1 (very long bullet, solid construction)
140gr ELD-M .646 G1/.326 G7
142gr SMK .626 @ 2850 fps and above, .611 between 2400 and 2850 fps, .606 between 2050 and 2400 fps, .581 @ 2050 and below

I'm going to zero my first 300 BLK (9.5" with iron sights) and am torn on 25, 50, or 100.

With supersonic ammo does anyone know where the crossovers are?  My goal will be to keep it as close to POA=POI as possible out to 75-100m max with zero care given for how it falls off afterwards.

I'm not super familiar with 300 BLK so my numbers may be off.

For what you are looking for, you definitely don't want a 25 zero. 75 and 100 are very similar. They are basically a zero at the top of the arc so everything else will be low. You are going to hit height over bore distance low at the muzzle regardless of your zero distance. With a 50 zero you will hit dead on at 50, .5" high at 75 and 100, and then be back on at maybe 125.

If you tell me more about your MV, bullet, sight height, target size... I can give you more.

The silhouettes on page 1 would be good, it will be used in a self defense role.

I don't want to thread jack at all, but based on a similar projectile (125gr Nosler BT) at 2100FPS, using the Point Blank program a 25yd zero gives a crossover again at 100yards with a 1.5" sight offset.  I use this on my own 300BLK and it is pretty close.   Consider it reference and not replacement for OP's better data.

If your optic is 1.5" over the rail, your line of sight is 2.75" over the bore.

This is what I got for 25y zero (guessed altitude at 750ft):
