THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Well, sold the PRO, shipping it out first thing tomorrow not entirely sure how i feel about it just yet. Ive been wanting to get a 1-4 for a while now, and decided since money is tight, id use that as an excuse to sell the PRO, which makes me have to start saving for the scope lol.

I was looking at just a 1-4x up until this morning when i logged in and saw the sponsor ad for the new viper 1-6x scope coming fall of this year. This would be PERFECT, HOWEVER its coming with a $1700 price tag this would take a while to save up for lol.

Any other options out there that are as good or close to as good as the viper for less? Or is the extre 2x over the 1-4x worth the extra $$$?

Thanks for the oppinions guys!

oh, and i use the rifle for varmints as well as papaer punching, which i want to push out past what i can do with the aimpoint right now. Prob not any farterh than 4-500 yards at the most, i dont have a lot of places to shoot that far here in SW Iowa.

There was a Trijicon Accupoint in somehting like 3-9x40 at Cabela's the last time I looked that was around 700.
4x isn't much for shooting coyotes at 4-500. Those cool tactical scopes with the straight tubes don't do crap for allowing you to ID and hit targets in dim evening/dusk/dawn light. I can make out much more at night outside with my Bushnell Trophy XLT 1.5-6x42.
I have even seen the Trijicon 2.5-10x56 on sale for around 800.
My buddy has the 5-20x50 and the glass is just fantastic.

Well you should have plenty of time to save if you wait for the swfa 1x6
Im tired of waiting in mine and i paid for it a month and a half ago.
I have had a lot of different optics, all quality, and all different brands/magnifications.
I would say that one of my favorites and most useful to my type of shooting is the leupold mark 4 2x8.
Good mag range for longer range shooting and still very quick at lower power. Excellent light gathering as well.

Me personally, I wasn't a huge fan of my PRO. I'll be selling it on the EE soon.

Leupold Patrol with a LaRue mount is a very nice 1-4 setup.

I honestly didnt notice any difference in my aimpoint that i had on my rifle in afghanistan, so its what i am/was used to and figured it would be enough for what i THOUGHT i was going to use the rifle for. WElllllll, I dont use the rifle for what i THOUGHT i was going to, and if i needed to do super close work, iron sites can work just as good

I just went through a similar quest to find a scope. After reading a million reviews and creating almost as many comparison sheets
...the selection came down to two key points for me. Application and budget. I am replacing a Leupold Tactical Prismatic with the Circle Plex Reticle.
The longest range for me is 100-200 yds. I narrowed my selection - variable, low power with a decent 1x performance. I set my budget and started looking for deals...including any previously owned for sale on arfcom.

SWFA SS HD 1-4x24 FFP Donut Reticle - now I need a mount.

Low light varmints (for example, coyotes) or day light (like prairie dogs)?

Low light, the 1-6x24 scopes may be a problem at 6x. I had a couple of the Swarovski 1-6x24 scopes, and at 6x the exit pupil was way too small even during the daylight for me or my girlfriend. The exit pupil would work but that 4mm was just too small and made the view finicky.

I've been thinking about the Zeiss Duralyt 1.25-5x36 scope, as for me, the 1.25x works as well as the 1x/1.1x scope (YMMV).

thanks for the replies/suggestions gents!! Ive heard nothing but great things about SWFA, ill look into them. I think right now i am looking at them, Viper and possibly Leopold, although the redfield revolutions arnt completely out of the game even though they dont have any 1x glass, i MIGHT be able to go for just a traditional 3x-+setup i suppose.

most of the varmints would be coyotes, possibly some others, but i need it to work just as good in low light then during the day. or would like it to rather
