THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I am looking to get into 3 gun matches and have about $500 ish to spend (would love to get an ACOG, but don't have that kind of money right now). What would you recommend in that price range??

Thanks for the input.

Search craigslist. You can pick up a good deal every once in a while. I have seen Acogs go for around 500 where I live. Granted its next to a shit ton of military bases.

Burris Tac30 or MTAC in a LaRue LT-104 SPR mount.

Probably this.

I love this, but I might go with a thicker reticle for 3 gun. Maybe not it's pretty fast as for me, others have started otherwise.

!!DANGEROUS!!

It kinda sucks because there are a lot of soldiers who buy Acogs because they are not issued a proper optic when they go overseas but there is an unacceptably large number of stolen government Acogs out on the market. You have to realize that US soldiers are way underpaid for the most part (we would go broke if we paid them what they deserve) and these guys have families and bills and unfortunately some don't always have the best character whether we like it or not and they will see these optics sitting in storage and think free $$. SO... if you are close to a military base (as I am - Fort Jackson is literally my back yard... I can hop a 4ft tall fence and be on Fort Jackson) you must be extremely careful what you buy from soldiers... stolen optics... stolen pelican cases... stolen tools... if the military has it, it will be taken. That being said, a lot of our soldiers are in desperate need of money and need to sell off stuff that they personally bought for a deployment so get it checked out and make sure it is legit first and then get it because they will give you good deals on stuff they have used for work and no longer need.

If you save a bit more, you could get a used ACOG on the EE. But if youre looking for a 1-4x scope, check out the Burris MTAC, Vortex PST, & Burris XTR (used).

leupold v-xr 1x4 patrol rifle scope and a rock river scope mount unless you want quick detach . the rock river mount is made in the states 60.00 is the price tag . the pepr mount may be good but my experience with it was less than stellar .
