THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I know, they are normally engineered to co-witness with the iron sights, but I don't need that. I have a low power scope and I would prefer it to sit lower for better cheek weld and handling characteristics. This scope, even with a 30mm tube, could easily sit 1/2" lower before anything starts to hit. |

most of the one piece mounts are designed for a good cheek weld.......any lower and it wouldn't work.

^ ^ ^ Exactly.
Magnified optics are not meant to cowitness with iron sights. Height is mostly about proper cheek weld. The best 1-piece mounts are cantilevered forward to give you proper eye relief. |

I know what you mean. 1.5"ish has become the standard (if you will) due to muscle-memory/training. I too, like a mount a little lower, but I've found it's not usually an option. The LaRue LT158 is the lowest I think at 1.44. It does have a 10 MOA built-in though. To go lower, rings would be in order. I need to clear my BUIS, so I went with an LT104. The objective size also needs to be considered. |

Swag... and Larue quality to boot. |

Armalite is lower than most 1.25 optic center to rail height.
From my experience any lower and you will not be able to see thru it I like a solid cheek weld and this will do it. MaxIcon did alot of work here for specs and such. http://www.maxicon.com/guns/optics/one_piece/ar15_onepiece_mounts.htm |

US Optics has a mount that puts the optics 1.26" above the rail.

Nightforce makes a couple mounts to address this. The Unimount is available in 1.125" and 1.375" heights. I have the 1.125" and it works great for me. Keep in mind I like my scopes very low in relation to the comb height. The 1.125" will work with 44mm scopes and below. ![]() |

DNZ makes one.
It is nicer than the armalite. |
