It's more like "What don't you spend money on to afford these?"  I drive an old car that doesn't have a payment, don't pay for TV, don't eat out, etc.

Doesn't feel right posting in this thread with all these other super nice optics but here's what I've got. I suppose it fits though since it meets the $1k minimum. EOTech Vudu 5-25 with MD3 reticle mounted in Seekins rings on an Aero Precision 6.5 Creedmoor.

I'm not exactly sure why you don't feel right posting that optic in this thread, or why you're hinting that this is not a "super nice optic". The EOTech Vudu line is just as worthy to be featured in this thread as any of the others. They are quality optics worthy of consideration and respect. While EOTech as a whole is fairly new to the rifle scope market, the introductory models are very well made with excellent quality glass and great overall performance.

I guess that come across wrong.

I definitely wasn’t hinting that it’s not a nice optic or taking anything away from it. Great glass for the money and really has a lot going for it. I guess I was just saying it’s not as proven as others at this point and others in this thread have much higher price tags. Steiner Militarys, Schmidts, ATACRs, REAP-IRS, etc.

Price isn't everything.  I was super skeptical about the Vudu line, but I just put a 3.5-18 on my .308 bolt gun and have been very happy so far.  I'd like locking turrets, but otherwise they're just as good as many optics that cost twice as much, in my opinion.

Much lower down on the value scale, here is a really bad photo of my Minox ZP8.

Minox does not get enough love here. Their 3-15 is perhaps the best mid-mag scope out there.

I've been eyeballing the Minox 3-15 and have convinced myself that I need this optic. However, I highly favor the Horus grid reticles (the Tremor 3 in particular) and seriously considering changing out my optics for this reticle. Nevertheless, I think the Minox ZP5 w/ MR5 would still be a very nice addition.

I agree the Minox line is very appealing, particularly the 3-15; not that it is important but I think they are the best looking scopes on the market.  Why don't more companies make mid-power 3-12 or 3-15 power scopes?  Like you I am a huge fan of Horus reticles (the H59 being my preference), but the Minox MR4 reticle isn't a bad option, it's just too bad they don't put it in the 3-15.  Even the MR10+ (which I have im my ZP8) would be a better reticle than the MR5 in the 3-15 (IMO). I feel like they really missed the mark on reticle options with the 3-15, if it had better options I probably would have skipped the ZP8 for my .308 gas gun; I am not as into the 1-8X thing as I had though I would be.

Minox has a ZP5 3-15 with a MR2 reticle for sale on their site for $2000 right now...

Because photo thread, I will place a photo of my Vudu in here later...

I appreciate the heads up. Not in the market for a new optic right now though. Wish I could, but I've got a pot of disposable funds in reserve for something I'm anticipating come around Shot 2019 time. I think the 3x - 18x (everything in between) occupy a great focal range that is the Medium Power Variable Optic (MPVO) space, and agree that the world would be better served with more options available. Looking forward to seeing what pics you throw up on the wall.

I think there is definitely some room in the market for more/better MPVO options.  Just personal experience/opinion but if you're shooting with holds 10X-12X is sufficient out to 1000 meters for silhouette; even with 300 WINMAG if you're shooting with holds on an H59 you'll have to back the power out at 1000-1200m. I have never "needed" more than 20X for practical shooting, even beyond 1500 meters.  If you want to shoot itty-bitty bench-rest groups then maybe the higher magnification is needed.

Back to photos...  Vudu 3.5-18 H59 reticle.

Functionally and optically I can only say good things so far.  Like I've already said, I'd love locking turrets.  Aesthetically the scalloping and old school looking tall and skinny turrets aren't my cup of tea; I have to assume the simple turret design helps keep the cost down so they can focus on good optics and great build quality.  The push button illumination is something I was skeptical about, but have come to like.

I typically don't shoot more than 10x, but I do like having more magnification on tap. Maybe I'll change my tune once I got more serious about PRS and competing this year. I don't mind the tall turrets, but I do agree that I wish it had a locking feature. Not too worried about it. I've actually had my MD1-MRAD Vudu on the EE for a little while now. Trying to sell it to offset the cost of the H59 reticle variant. I initially wanted a more simple mil reticle that I thought would be better suited for PRS matches, but since I've grown to appreciate holdover grids I think I'll be okay. I also wasn't sure if I'd like the push button illumination myself, but after having used it I actually like it. I don't really use the illumination feature all that much, but it is a nice luxury option

Nice. Thinking about accessorizing my SR25 in a similar fashion someday. My buddy's down south are always inviting me down to go hog hunting, so a set-up like this would be awesome for those trips.

I also like Atacr’s.

This was a 4-16 H59 in a NF mount. The rifle has a Mega set, 6.5 CM barrel I cut, SD-E, JP lightweight BCG, JP SCS, etc.

The scope was sold and turned into a NF SHV F1 and a NX8. I ended up selling the barrel out of the rifle, as soon as I get some free time I’m going to pull the 6 SLR barrel off my bolt gun, rechamber it to 6 Creed, and put it in this rifle.

Here’s one of the replacement scopes, a NF SHV F1 in a NF mount on a .224 Valkyrie I built on a Bartlein blank. I’m posting this from a deer stand with my younger son, he’s trying to kill a deer with it on youth day.

Thanks.  I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this gun.

The QC barrel feature on the new ones is definitely a level up when it comes to simple barrel swaps.  I feel like a gunsmith when I do it the old fashioned way, though.
