It's metric....

Correct. It was a 2mm, which still didn't fit one of them. Notice I said "one of the allen heads". I traded it off anyways.

I picked up a couple of Bushnell scopes at Wal-Mart the other day, @ $200 each retail.  The manager is an anti-2A bitch so I didn't feel bad for not telling them that they were mismarked @ $6.97 each.

I think I found a deal.

I wanted a 1-4x20 to help me with my night hunting, my eyes just aren't the best and I am having issues seeing my prey through my red dot.
I walked in Academy Sports and saw this and took a chance.

Centerpoint is the brand, which I have seen a little talk on the net about them and seems like they are decent and good to go.

" CP Tactical 1-4x20 Scope with mount".

This is made for an AR.

It was 79.99 at Academy.

Just got done sighting it in and it wasn't difficult at all, took 10 shots to be dead on. Never shifted zero and nothing jarred loose or malfunctioned.

It is a 1/2" at 100 yards adjustments, they are finger turntable, have loud positive clicks, and aren't to hard/easy to turn, just right.

I used a 25 yd range, sighted in at 1.5" below POA, so to be close to on at 100 yards.

The centerline to centerline is 2.5" ,  it sits a little lower than my Bushnell TRS-25 on a 1" riser, but the cheek weld wasn't an issue.

At 25 yards I was shooting bug eyes from a rest and COM standing.
I used the 1 power and the 4 power, both were clear and POI didn't seem to shift.

I am going to put it through its paces though, this was just the first day. I go hunting almost weekly and it will be tested for sure.
Here are some iPad pictures of it

My Bushnell TRS-25 on a Lion Gears 1" riser.

The TRS is a couple years old now, spent 1st half of its life on my AK, now it's for my AR.

Never once lost zero and is plenty bright and sharp for use in bright and no light.

I have shot to 300 yards with it and its too easy.

My favorite show off is popping milk jugs filled with water at 200 yards on my first shot, head shots a 200 all day.

Accurate, Fast and light weight, did I mention dependable too.

Gun on top in ODG is an NFA polymer lower with SAA upper sporting a Nikon p-223 3x32 with UTG Leapers high QD mounts.  I used this gun and scope for the Frontsight 4-day Practical Rifle Course.  I shot as well as guys with ACOGs and magnified EOTECHs.  I shot about 500rds from 7yds to 400yds and the scope rocked.  The P-223 3x32 is only $149 retail.

The gun on bottom in black is an NFA polymer lower with a Palmetto State Armory 6.8 SPCII Stainless Madness midlength upper wearing a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC scope (about $179) with a Burris PEPR mount. Great scope for the price.

Both scopes have BDC reticles and can use the Nikon Spot-On app or website, which work really well. Check it out at http://spoton.nikonsportoptics.com or on the iTunes apps store.

My S&W M&P 15 with Vortex Strikefire red dot only, with extra high mount for lower 1/3 co-witness. I bought the red/green for $100 and it was washing out in the desert landscape. Vortex told me, if I shipped it to them, plus $10, they would ship me the red dot only. Not bad for $120! Its soon to be replaced with a PA 4x Prism. Though, I am holding onto it. I love the Vortex and the warranty is second to none.

The Mini-14 is outfitted with the Primary Armed Fixed Base Micro Dot - $79.99, scout mount on an UltiMAK. I don't know how/why... on the 582 series Mini's a co-witness is not supposed to be possible. Still, I also get a lower 1/3 co-witness. With the 2 MOA dot this rifle shoots rails out to 200 yds.

I am a newbie with a budget DPMS rifle and a budget scope

Actually, could use some help identifying exactly which DPMS rifle I have! I was given the rifle for free as it was "broken". It did not have fore grip or but stock ant the upper receiver was bent and I could not chamber a round. Original receiver had the carry handle with the rear sight built in to it. I purchased a flat top receiver from brown ells for $100, a magpul furniture package i think was $60-90, a magpul backup sight $55. I found a young kid that was a certified armorer and gunsmith and paid him $100 to install the parts and check the rifle over.

I decided to invest in 5,000 rounds of ammo and 10 magpul mags and spend time at the range. Rifle came with the scope, at it was marred a bit. I bought the ring mount and purchased a trueglow TRU•BRITE™ DUAL COLOR MULTI RETICLE for $89 at Dick's on sale.

Some background ... i served in the South African military fighting Cubans in the bush war in Angola during the mid to late 80's. I was trained on the Galile platform using a .556 R4 built by the South African Army. The AR platform rocks, even with a "cheap" DPMS. The trueglow is obviously not the best, but it sure beats iron sights. I am saving up now for a better red dot with magnification as I think that is the way I want to go.

I would also like to change the front sight to a low profile gas block and a mid length foregrip.

Target was with the truglow after 1500-200 rounds at 50 yards ...

Now lets see if I can get the photo's up

Damn, broko!  Are you 6'10"?  You make that rifle look like a little toy.  Can't beat free and that DPMS looks pretty good now.  Regale us with stories of your time putting an AR to use in Africa (guess maybe that would be in "AR Discussions").

Anyway, I'll try to have pics of my budget optic up tonight.

LOL, I'm 6'4" and the AR is actually a perfect fit for me. I do want to eventually convert to a mid length handgaurd though as it will be more comfortable for me. JUst have to figure out how.

I did not use an AR in Africa. We were issued R4 rifles that were based on the Galilele - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R4_assault_rifle

Here's my 2.  The Colt 6721 carbine is a Vortex Strikefire red dot and the Colt Match Target rifle is a Leapers Bug Buster 3-9.  Both on the mounts that came with the optics.  The Bug Buster is also on a Tennessee Machine riser.

Real pleased with both of these, but it's only a couple of trips to the range each.  They were each easy to zero and holding it well.
