ed mentioned to me several months ago that ellis optics was working on his 1-6 project. it may not end up like the one they offer now, given his reticle. and it will be on the high end ($1K).
Just talked to them - civie price $1100. Leo or .mil, ~$1000. 100% home spun, though...
Shit, I just can't afford that much... |
The 1-6 looks like a decent scope but still want to see the 1-4. I can't afford a S&B Short Dot after all. Or rather.....I can but don't want to spend the coin. |
I'm sure this will be great, but at $1000, there are lots of good choices. If he could get it to $400, . . .Winner! Winner! Chicken dinner!
US made ,daytime illumination BDC and ranging reticle 1-6x power $1000 sounds like a fair price I dont think that anybody in the US wiil make a similar optic in the $400 price range. |
Sounds very interesting for patrol rifle. I just hope that the power ring does not require a ape grip to quickly turn like many other scopes...Hint, hint.
Range findings with GRSC. I have 1-4x model on an M4. I followed the directions, zeroed at 2" low at 25 yards etc. Sights were on at 100 but off at 300 where the circle range is. I think it might be better to zero at 100 then re-zero at 300.

I'm back from the fire and just about caught up with the back log.
I see people are starting to put 2+2 together and are talking about the Ellis Omega 7/GRSC CRS. Progress is being made but nothing really new that I can talk about on this subject. Millett informs me that there will be delays with the 1x4 through them. The other 1x4 CRS from S Korea is moving along and if I was a betting man( o yea I am) I would put my money on this getting into production first. I have concluded a license agreement with Burris to use the horseshoe portion of my reticle in their 556 ballistic reticle. If your interested in this type of reticle in a 1x4 rfp scope this looks like it could be a good choice. I hear Trijicon by request of the Marines is testing a horseshoe type reticle in a acog. I wish I had more definitive info on scope production. Ed GRSC INC |

Great update Ed. Patience is a virtue and I believe this is a product worth waiting for. |
With what ammo? bullet weight? |
Great news Ed ! So it looks as though there'll be 3 options then, the S Korean 1-4, the Ellis based 1-6 and then the Burris.
Are you looking at the S Korean model being ~$400 ? |
Yes, from the info I' getting it looks like the S Korean scope will be in that price range. As far as horseshoe reticles goes it looks like the competition is starting to get on board. I think this will be a good thing for our war fighters. This whole project is about getting a better scope/reticle to them. It looks like I'm going to be out for about two weeks again. I'm being sent out to the Carmel fire early tomorrow am. I hope I have something to update when I get back. Ed GRSC INC |

hmmm, that must be a bit irratating when none of them would give you the time of day for yours... anyway, be safe down in So Cal ! |

I am a soldier whose job is to test and help develop small arms and small arms strategies. Mr. Verdugo has given me the opportunity to test one of his optics. The optic I was given is a 1 to 4 power and I have put it threw several test and have yet to be disappointed using his horse shoe retical with the BDC. The retical is a first plane retical so it is about 4 MOA when set on 1 power. When aimed at a dark back ground the retical can be a little hard to acquire, but when used on light back ground the retical is very easy to acquire that being said the concept is valid and when I spoke with him on this matter he told me that the next generation he was making would have a back lit retical that would be as easy to see as the Eotec or Aim point. When you turn the optics power up to 4 power the retical comes to life and the true advantage of the optic becomes apparent. The horse shoe and BDC are very easy to distinguish and the BDC is very easy to figure out and unlike many BDC's it shows where to aim at 450 and 550 meters using this BDC I was able to consistently engage clay pigeons at 250 a 10 inch steel gong at 300 by aiming dead center on the 300 dot and a steel silhouette at 450 meters using the prescribed dot on the BDC. I have been fortunate enough to be included in many high level briefings and can tell you that Mr. Verdugo is right on the money, the new optic the Army wants will have a 1-6 power capability, illuminated retical and BDC out 600 Meters. In conclusion the optic I was given with the GRSC retical has passed all my test with flying colors and I can tell you personally I would feel fortunate if I were issued a 1-6 power optic with the GSRC retical and sent to combat because I know it's accurate and the most important part of combat marksmanship is confidence in you ability to hit the enemy.

Hey Ed,
Thanks for the phone call. Looking forward to working with you in the future. Thanks, PUBBOY |

I have been using Ed's 1X4 the last year or so took it to 2007 Ft benning 3 gun, I had no problem hitting the 12inch plates at the 425 meter mark, 14.5 inch M4.
This last summer I used a Elcan Spectre DR (Army Issue) at some 3 gun matches. I was way slower getting ranges with it. Spectre DR uses ACOG reticle. Granted You could beat 10 peolpe to death with the Elcan it wont break but as far as fast target enagement I prefer Ed's. Thats my 2 cents see you at the matches! |

Latest update. Millett has been acquired by Bushnell. I'm still waiting to find how this will effect my deal with Millett. I was supposed to get 100 of the new improved production run in about a week. I'll just have to wait and see if it happens. I'm waiting to hear from Millett/Bushnell. We're making good progress on both the South Korean 1x4 and the American 1x6. I should have samples soon. I will post pictures and updates as soon as the new scopes come in. For those of you who haven't seen pictures of the South Korean 1x4 or the American 1x6 go to page 26 on this thread. Ed GRSC Inc |

Glad to hear about the progress, Ed. Cannot wait to see pics of the samples, once they come in and are QC'ed. |

+1 to RedFalconBill for helping me find this thread again.
Im itching to try this scope soon as its available |

Your answer is no.
The company that wants to make these scopes buys the Millet DMS-1 and makes adjustments to make the scope more reliable. But Millet just got sold to Bushnell, so it has thrown a wench in the plans for the GRSC scope. If I were you, I'd probably just buy the DMS-1 for $200 and wait to see what happens with the GRSC. |
I wanted something that would have trajectory (not sure what its called, but ya know, has markings for range) |
Well for now you might have to buy a Burris XTR 1-4x w/ there new .223 reticle.
RRA15 |
Damn, didnt know about the Burris XTR, those look really slick! I am already a Burris fan, as I have a few other of their scopes and absolutely love them.
What is the FOV at its 4 power setting and can you get them with different reticels? |
Ed, I remain interested in these products, and continue to offer support. I look forward to continued progress.

Fire season is winding down Ed...anything new?
Edit: Ed, when your fire season winds down, can you update us? Looks like you might be busy for a while Stay safe |
Actually fire season(the windy season) starts in October and runs thru January. I,m off today . Sorry I haven't updated for quite a while. There has been a lot going on with the scopes. I'm told I will have another delivery of the scopes from Millett in about 6 weeks. As some of you know Millett was purchased by Bushnell so there are things that need to be worked out with this situation. When I get the new batch of scopes in I will be taking care of people with warranty issues (from the first batch of scopes) first. If anyone has a scope from the first batch with a warranty issue please contact me ASAP. [email protected] again leave me your phone # I Will call you but I do not have time to e-mail !!!! I'm told that I may have the S Korean manufactured 1x4 scope available in Jan 09. Same for the American manufactured 1x6. We will just have to wait and see how things go with these two manufactures. I'm not going to give details of either of these scope at this time because they are still in the developmental stage. Ed GRSC Inc |

I say again. Anyone with warranty issues on the CRS scope please e-mail me at [email protected] I'd like to take care of these issues asap. Please remember to include your phone# with your e-mail.
Thank You Ed GRSC Inc |

Ed, it's great to see such progress with your design. I was on the original list for the first run that never produced, and I'm glad for that. These new scopes hold much more promise, imo, especially that 1x6.
Don't forget me when they start rolling off the assembly line. |

Great speaking with you today ED, I will definitely be awaiting those new scopes to come out. Here is the link I was speaking of with the writer from Defensereview.com using one of your scopes on an M14 .308 and a pic.

I know they are specifically designed for the .223, but anyone ever tried it on a whim on a M1a or similar rifle? Bill |

Any new news? I just got off the phone with Steve from Millett. He said scopes should be here in about two weeks. I will be calling people on the list this weekend (Sat & Sun) to find out who still wants these scopes. AGAIN!!! I'm asking anyone who got a scope from the first batch that has warranty issues to contact me at [email protected] Make sure you leave me a phone# with your e-mail. I'm only getting about 100 scopes and I want to take care of any warranty issues first. I will update any new details about the next batch of scopes when I talk to the (list) people on the phone.
