I bought some Colt labeled magazines about 4 years ago that do not have a CAGE Code or manufacture date. They are not the same quality as my older ones made by Okay Industries.  Who made them for Colt?

To help, the baseplate reads as follows and has a polished black and not a flat, anodized finish.

CAL. 5.56 MM
COLT'S FIREARMS DIVISION
COLT INDUSTRIES
HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.

Agree with above. Never heard of a polished black Colt mag either

I agree with the polish black being a killer.  But for your future finds, if I remember right,  some of the old colts are marked inside not outside

I erred by using the term polished.  I have some issued mags, tan followers, that were made in 5/11 that have a similar finish on the baseplate.  They are not anodized with a flat finish. They were made by Center Industries.

The Colt mags are legit and not knock-offs.  They are the same ones that came packaged with 6920's several years ago.  My curiosity is piqued because it seems that Colt had an interim period when they went from Okay to another manufacturer.

The finish on the mags are excellent with no drips.  The only quality deficiency is the welds on the inside curved edge.  They are not aligned well and appear similar to a C-Products mag I have.  I expect it is not made by C-products since they imprint their CAGE code and date which these do not have.

Colts Cage Code is 13629; but I do have a Colt 30 Rd Mag, that came with a Colt Carbine.

It had OKays Cage Code & Colt stamped on the mag body, with Colt Floorplate.

Sounds like someone replaced the base plates with Colt marked plates.

I have Colt mags that I personally pulled out of the Colt 6920 box I just cut the seals on that are marked NHMTG on the base plate, and "Colt" with the rampant horse on the mag body.  In fact, I was using one at the range this weekend.

As a related side:  I'm pretty sure NHMTG is the civilian name given to Okay magazines. I think they're distributed by Ronan Corp.

All of your comments are greatly appreciated.  I was able to meet with one of the curators at the NRA Museum.  He informed me that the magazine is an authentic Colt.  Since the time Colt lost its contract to supply magazines to the military (actually mags produced by Okay Ind. as a subcontractor), they had magazines for the commercial business produced by various manufacturers. That is what I have.....mystery solved.
