I didn't buy any BEFORE the election,  but I jumped on PA'S 12 Pmags for 99 dollars deal,  and PSA'S  6.99 D&H deal.   Bought 30 for the free shipping.

Not because I thought Hillary would get elected, but I did happen to purchase lots of mags since May.  Of course, had to get 32 rnd COLT mags for the 9mm pistol I built, and when we found out that my then-pregnant wife was going to give birth to a son (end of September) I knew that with him on the way, I better get serious about adding to my collection! Granted, all of the deals, I can't pass up on $6.99/mag shipped or Black Friday deals.  I've probably bought over 100 mags since Memorial Day weekend.   Oh, and I built a 6.8 SPC II and added a couple P320's to the collection, used the 20% off code from SIG to order more mags for the pistols.

How many/much of this does my wife know about?  Virtually none of it.  Me and a buddy built a rifle for our good friend for finishing his Master's degree, so there have been lots of boxes being shipped to my house.

That makes me guilty.

I've got probably 40 or so Pmags that I wish were USGI or Lancers instead, but I wouldn't say I regret buying them. Nothing against Pmags, I like them and use them, just wish I hadn't gone so heavy into them.

Bought a bunch before and a bunch after.  I don't buy out of panic, I buy when I find a deal.

I bought a case of USGI mags (used at that) in early '00 and have maybe bought a dozen since. I don't even own a single pmag. I don't understand the point of having 6 billion magazines laying around. If SHTF bad enough that I need to revert to using more than what I have, we are all probably better of dead.

I started stacking pistols in addition to magazines.  Now I have Glocks that may never see the light of day.  But hey, I am set up now.

Mags break, they get lost, other dudes pick them up at matches, all kinds of stuff happens. They are consumables so I try to keep as many as I can on hand.

It only counts if you also bought enough ammo to fill the mags at least twice

Any updates?  What have you been doing with the mags?  Im guessing its either sell them at a loss or sit on them for the time being.

Thanks

Think of this time period as a lull in the storm. Someday Libs will be back, and prices will be higher..... imagine if we got an all Lib Senate, Congress and Pres.

If we're talking about longetevity and quality, I'm thinking metal will beat out plastic in the long run.  Don't get me wrong, I have my fair share of plastic mags.  But if that ban ever does come through, how long are the plastic ones gonna last?  Maybe 10 or 20 yrs? 50 if you baby them?  My great grandkids will be shooting with my metal magazines.

I got most of my AR mags after Bush let the AWB sunset.
By the time Obummer came along I had plenty.

I do not buy during panic situations.

I didn't buy any during the election because I didn't have the ability to being here in CA. But I had stocked up. Previously, every time I went to a gun store I walked out with a couple of PMAGs. I had also gotten some extra M&P mags for the wife's M&P9. The only thing we're short of is M1A mags and Beretta 92 mags. We had a bunch of Beretta mags since the wife and I both have one but I think a few walked off.

A couple years after the AWB expired I ordered cases of mags from 44mag when I did a group buy for my club. I ended up with 80 or so 30 rounders. More than I'll ever need. I have to get a half dozen 20 rounders but no rush with hitlery losing.

No, never.

I wasn't worried about Hillary as much as I was about a possibility of a proposed AWB making it through the state legislature this session.

Not only mags, but a few other items.  And since prices have dropped I've gotten some decent deals on ammo too.  It may go lower in the next couple years but I don't regret it

Is that even possible with the WA legislature so narrowly divided?

Yes. Their attempt for his one didn't die off in the legislature until the end of Feb, and I still expect to see WA Ceasefire start a ballot initiative to get their ban.

Jeez, I bought so many guns, optics, a bigger safe, and magazines last year it was ridiculous. Bought AK, AR, MP-5, Scorpion, and a boatload of pistol magazines for differs guns. And like everyone else, I don't regret it since I was able to pay cash for everything from working a lot of OT

Magazine restricted state. I'm out of here in three months and then it's game on. Especially for my M-1A and M&P-10. I'm a little lower than where I would like to be with those.

I have a known number (in my head) for my AR magazines.  Each rifle gets #XX for blah, blah & blah.  I organized and counted everything up - Surprise!  I had all the AR magazines I need for my SHTF scenarios.  I bought some discontinued (new) OD Pmags at my LGS; then a OEM1 for an Awesome $$$ and ate a MilkyWay.  NO REGERTS !!!

Like I mentioned above, I did worst, I stocked up on Glock Pistols.  Purchased 2-17s and 2-19s the weekend before the election....the guy at Academy thought I was nuts.

I am still buying mags, pistol and rifle.

My Magpul Glock mag count is getting crazy.  I am stopping soon.

First, if you shoot a lot, you will break USGI mags. Every time I get to the point that I have 30 or 40 unloaded mags, I order another case of 1000 rounds. I never carry loose ammo, it is always loaded in mags if I have the mags for it. I keep them in 50 caliber ammo cans, which will hold 17 mags. I have a stack of ammo cans in the corner next to my safe, so if I'm going shooting, I can either grab a whole can or dump what I need into my range bag. I never have to reload mags during competition. Every couple of months or so I just sit down and load a ton of mags.

I didn't just buy them all at once. Whenever I had spare cash and saw a major deal, I'd order ten. Over the last several years, this results in a huge collection. When I started practical shooting competition as a kid just before the expiration of the assault weapons ban, my dad had 5 M16 mags and three Glock mags that were high capacity. I resolved that, whatever the political climate, I'd have enough magazines for an entire family to shoot a 3-gun competition without ever having to reload.

I have about 200 pmags unopened, and still in the box. I rotate 10 or so of them when I go shooting.
Should I diversify my collection and add some Lancers to the mix? I also need to stack up on more bakelite mags for my AK.
