I've decided to pull the trigger on a DPMS Oracle in 308/7.62.  While I've got plenty of 5.56 mags....never shopped for 308 mags.  Are ALL Pmags good to go?  I've read most prefer the 20rd vs. the 25.  Or are Lancers or some other brand better?

Is the Oracle short action?  Not sure which specific mags to look at?

Also, who has the best deal on them?

Thanks

I've got the Lancers in 10 and 20 as well as PMAGs in 10, 20, and 25.  Shooting a home build on a MEGA upper/lower set.

I use the Lancer 10 rounder mostly.  I shoot prone a lot.  They are built like a tank and priced like one too.

I've not had issues with the others, though I've seen tales of bullet tips eating up the front of PMAGs from the recoil.  Probably after many many rounds.

I have 20 & 25 round P-Mags for my MWS.  Never had a problem with them, save for the Taran Tactical extensions on a 25.  Just couldn't get the damn things to work.

PMAGs  for cost savings and performance. The Lancers are sweet, but priced accordingly.

Primary arms currently has the PMAG 20 rounder at $19.95, and Lancer 20 rounder (non-translucent) at $44.95.

I see DSG lists the 7.62 Pmags as "LR/SR" and then another model as "M118" and yet another model as "AICS Short Action."  Which is going to fit the AR-10 (DPMS Oracle)?

Thanks

This is where i am at as well.  i have alll kinds of 308 mags but cause i do alot of prone i use lancer 10 rounds.  otherwise, they all work the same and i use my pmag 20s most

Any reviews on the IMI mags?  They are certainly cheaper, but I am afraid to try them when Pmags work so well.

PMAGs work well and they're cheap, but I wouldn't count on them being serviceable after a couple thousand rounds.  I use them, but I consider them disposable.  I think the Lancers are a great mag and they are what I mostly use lately.  I suggest getting at least a couple KAC or Larue mags to stash away just in case though.

AICS is for the accuracy international chassis system, not for an AR.  Both the LR/SR and M118 will work with a 308 AR, the difference is the M118 have a greater length to accommodate a wider range of ammo and may not drop free.

I have been picking up a variety of 10, 20, 25rd pmags but I like metal mags, so I have a few DPMS mags.   I havent tried them for function but they load and drop free just fine.

Why not use DPMS mags? I'm sure the rifle would function  best with mags made by the manufacturer of said rifle. Also DPMS are pretty good. I'd go with LaRue or Knights myself....

Lanbo's armory has 20 rounders at 15.53 and 25 rounders at 17.86. Don't forget to use the coupon code "facebook" for $5 off 100.

Not sure if this is the cheapest but I bought 10 of the 25 rounders on Monday.

Thanks for sharing.  Shipping is really steep.  $18 for 6 mags.

That's because one is shipped from the warehouse and the other is from somewhere else. If you buy one or the other it would be cheaper.

It only took off around .50.  What they're doing is offering at a cheap purchase price and then making it up in shipping.  Lots of places do it.  Some dont.

Not to completely hijack the thread, but I'd like to get recommendations from where to order Lancer 308 mags.  I've had some on backorder for over 3 months and will place another order from someone who has them in stock at a decent price ($45 or less for 10 rd.).

Thanks.

I ended up ordering 6 of the 20rd LR/SR Pmags and one of the 25rd window Pmags.  Paid $16.99 shipped for the 20's and $19.99 shipped for the 25.

Thanks for the replies.

Please report back how the Pmags work with your Oracle. I am also looking at picking up the DPMS Oracle 308, seems like I can get one for under $800 around here.  I think that's a pretty cheap way to get into the 308 caliber.

The 4 I have have worked fine for me. I don't have a lot of rounds through them though.

I received my 6 20rd mags and 1 25rd window mag.  These look like a 5.56 mag on steroids...which is pretty much what they are.

Seem just as sturdy and well made.

I might order more next month.  But with 6 spares and a 25rd in the gun...should do fine.

Are there any feeding issues with the 25rd Pmags?  I only ask because, in mine, the follower is not super smooth flowing like in the 5.56 mags.  It seems to catch at different places especially if pressing only on the front 1/3 portion of the follower.

Thanks

I have a decent number of rounds through them. They work and they keep on working. If I couldn't get Pmags for a couple bucks cheaper, they'd be my go-to polymers.

Best mags I have are my D&H 20rnd steel mags. Perfect fit and feed. Fitting only required slight compression of the mag body sides.

Just bought 3 IMI 20 rounders. They are $16.95 from Aim Surplus. They have a window and come in black, OD green and tan. They seem very comparable to my PMags. Have only shot a couple rounds but they seem to feed well. Bolt stop worked on empty mags and cycled a few and the rounds cycled fine. I'm planning on running a few mags dry shortly. Will repost.

I bought from Turner Armament.  He matched the cheapest price I could find (which was DSG at the time) and has free shipping.

A little drag follower-to-body. I fix that with my Eezox trick, and they stay slick as owl shit after that.

Palmetto has them (both standard and M118LR) for $22.95. Don't know if thats good to you, but it's pretty good for around here (except for the locat LE supplier, and he's $15.95 for 20's, $19.95 for 25's).
