Having come to the conclusion it is better to store loaded mags than strippers in bandoliers, I'm seeking advice on the best way to store them.

Pictures would be nice.

Anyone have a highly price-competitive (cheap) source for SAW mag boxes?  How many do you store in them?

Why take the spares out of the 100 mag box?

ETA: The LAPG Bailout Bag makes a nice magazine carrier.  I think about 26 AR mags fills them nicely.

Fat 50 is the way to go, it works great.

I use the fat 50 for loaded mag storage, but I pad it on all sides with cardboard and a divider and do 24 mags vertically.

fat 50 if you have them. I use some of the 2omm cans I have and can flat out put 32 of them in there. They are big and a little cumbersome but either way, you are not gonna be carrying more then one box be it the fat 50 or a 20 mm can. Loaded up with rounds, they are gonna be hvy and cumbersome. A regular 50 cal can will only get you about 16 or so 30 rounders.

My FAT 50 holds 21 PMAGS + 6 USGI Mags - all with Ranger plates. 810 rounds of Ammo easily carried.

Not enough in the 50 cans - regular or phat....I use MTM Ammo Crates, large size.  The one I opened happens to have HK91/G3 mags but you get the gist...Ammo cans are for ammo (not that I have any of course):

I put 28 30rd USGI Mags with Magpul L Plates installed, and 2 more 20rd mags, in a USGI N463 fuse can (same footprint as a regular .50 can, but 1.5" taller,  aka "tall .50" can). https://www.amazon.com/Military-Surplus-Tall-Ammo-Pack/dp/B00PKMFLYS

I wish there's a regular 50 can, but just .5" taller. The fuse can is too tall for my liking. Fat 50 a tad too fat, but out of these, I like the fat 50 best. I personally don't like to put extra mags on top of nags in case it damages the feedlip
