anyone have any estimates how long Pmags stay good for not from use but from age.   Will the polymer get brittle in say 20 or 30 years sitting in a safe?

I suspect that if they are kept out of direct sunlight, such as in a safe, they will outlive you. Of course I have no scientific data to back this claim up.

Not a answer to your question in terms of years, but I have a single 20 round pmag with 8000 rounds or more though it.

I've read that the Pmag polymer is very stable stuff and should be good longer than anyone here will be alive.

I'm pretty much Pmags only and at 36, I'll take a chance on my stash lasting as long as I'll be able to use 'em...

Have around 200 with zero failures in thousands of rounds

I can't use my Sigs or Glocks if the plastic on those go bad and people have been using those for 30+ years.

All my Pmags have been going strong with no issues for years now.

I've got about 40 P-Mags for AR15 and a half-dozen for LR-308.  Had one failure on one mag where a feed lip cracked and it wouldn't retain ammunition.  This was an out of the package failure.  The remainder of these mags have never missed a beat.

I am still using thermolds from the early 90s so I should think decades

Kept out of prolonged UV radiation/sunlight, I suspect they'll outlive us. UV in sunlight is the enemy of some polymers

i have AUG mags (transparent polymer) that i've been using since the early 90's.  not one problem with them...

I had dome of these that were older and Israel surplus . They were ugly and had chipped feed lips on a couple but every one of them worked.

I have a dozen or so USE Thermies, too.  Good mags.

Far as I know if you're not blasting away on full auto mag after mag...you should be good.

You're not blasting away on full auto mag after mag....are you?

I had an '80 Chevy Suburban and the plastic steering wheel started putting out a clear tree sap like substance, very sticky and kind of smelled.

As long as pmags are not made of the same plastic GM's steering wheel supplier used and you avoid 30+ years of direct sunlight I'd say you will be fine for decades to come.

I can't see the polymer ever going bad in normal conditions. Like others have said, Glock pistols have been with us for a while and never heard of an issue. I would think the springs would be a bigger concern from poss. rust issues.

My Pmag to aluminum mag ratio is about 3/1, and even though they will both probably outlast me, there's nothing wrong with diversity.

I think Magpul is still abusing some very old Gen1 mags..
