I received the Brownell's Christmas Catalog in yesterday's mail.  On the back page is Brownell's new aluminum magazine for the AR-10.  Part number is 078-000-200 with a price of $19.99.

The part number doesn't appear to be active yet on the website but hopefully we can place orders within the next few weeks.

Fixed it for you OP.

Designed specifically for DPMS LR-308 and Knight’s SR-25 pattern rifles
Built to same no-compromise quality standards as our AR-15/M16 mags
New-design follower keeps even pressure on the round stack through entire feed path
Straight mag body holds a full 20 rounds – fits existing mag pouches
   Plus. . . Rugged heat-treated aluminum construction
   Anti-corrosion hard-anodized finish
Dry-film lubricant for smooth insertion in mag well
   Stainless steel spring
   Removable aluminum floorplate

No listed dimension of weight specs yet.

Brownells is my favorite manufacturer of AR15 magazines, and won out over all other brands in my personal mag test trials.  These should be excellent.

I pre-ordered two.  Brownell's says they expect these to start shipping in January.

I would really like to know the maximum COAL these will take.

M118LR tends to run long on its own, usually to the tune of 2.83".

ETA: Man, they're cheaper than Pmags, too.

What's a KAC mag accept for OAL?

Thanks OP: these are relative to my interest. I might have missed them otherwise because I don't really look at Brownells anymore (they tend to be too expensive). I have 10 of their AR15 mags and have no complaints with the quality.

So have these shipped yet?

Inside length from front to back of mags, obviously cartridge OAL needs to be slightly shorter:
KAC - 2.880"
LaRue - 2.875"
Lancer L7 - 2.835"

When the Brownell's mags are received I'll see if I can't get some measurements.

The KAC and LaRue mags are butt-welded at the seam, creating a box with no overlapping parts. The Brownells mag looks to have the same overlapping spot welded front as a USGI 5.56 mag, which will most likely shorten max COAL.

Brownells Q&A:
"I would not recommend anything over 2.875in.
Customer Care from Brownells"

Seems like a winner!

Anyone heard any more about these? I preordered 5 and I understood they would begin to ship in January. Middle of March now and crickets. Seems like this is the way Brownells does business now.

I read a post in the industry section from a representative of a KAC, they tried to make a aluminum .308 magazine but they couldn't get it to work. Maybe that is why Brownells mag hasn't come out yet...
