Magpul has stated many times that they do not release the dates in advance for when product will hit the shelves
Magpul had no problem releasing an estimated release date at SHOT. I think we are all just hoping for a little update.
I know, personally, I need to grab 120 new magazines and I have been dragging my feet hoping the M3s would be out soon. |
Pretty sure MAGPUL has been knocking back the release date since the spring. I plan on buying 10 when they come out but I'm not holding my breath. If it takes another year to get them right that's fine by me.
I'm looking forward to it. I just hope the rumors of them only coming in black are bullshit.
I got no problem with any of my Gen 2's.. But why keep buying the old when you can have the new and not to mention the good sale prices that happen on the old stuff when the new stuff comes out.
when they come out I will blow my load all up and down the range....

Sounds good, looking to pick up some extra PMags asap. Hopefully can get them in OD when they release. Assuming the current ranger base plates will work on the gen 3's?

Anyone care to summarize the difference between gen 2 and 3?

Anyone care to summarize the difference between gen 2 and 3? From what I understand, their reinforced better, over insertion fixed, and will fit a few other rifles like SCAR and ACR, better material and a few other improvements like feed lips. |

Anyone care to summarize the difference between gen 2 and 3? -The M3 design is stronger in all tests over the current PMag (feedlip impact, spine strength, side impact, cold/hot weather. etc.). -The M3 has geometry changes to increase reliability in extreme and adverse conditions. -The M3 has new low drag follower design for increased reliability in dust environments. -The M3 is now drop free compatible with magazine wells on the tight end of the tolerance. -The M3 is now fully compatible with HK416, SA80A2 (Magwell length) and FNSCAR (Bolt Catch) weapon systems. -New over travel stop allows the M3 mag to be used in mixed HK416/M4 environments without potential over travel in the M4 weapon. (previous PMag has the over travel stop in the front of the mag which cannot be used due to the longer HK416 magwell). -The M3 magazine catch area is reinforced. -The M3 magazine has a new slimmer floorplate to aid in pouch compatibility. -The M3 has slightly increased rib height for better handling under stress. -The M3 has grip ribs on front and rear spines for increased positive handling under stress. -The M3 has a recessed paint pen matrix for individual marking of magazines that is consistent and will not become illegible due to use and cleaning. -The M3 Maglevel features new window material which is more chemical resistant and has a new non glare finish. |

Believe it or not, I own no PMAGs. *Gasp*
I have a lot of Okays/NHMTG and 3 Troy Battle Mags, so I am holding out for the M3 to start my PMAG additions I remember seeing a flat floor plate for the PMAG on the Magpul website, but now I can't find it. Will the M3s come with this optional floor plate? That was the reason I bought Troy mags over the PMAGs

The Gen3 mags sound desirable. I'll have to get some. Is there going to be 40 round version too?

Obama suggested a new AWB last night…how would that affect sales if things were to fall in to place that way?

Before I saw this thread I wasn't even aware Magpul was coming out with a Gen 3. The first two generations of mags have worked so well for me I wouldn't have considered there to even be a need for a gen3. I'm glad they're coming out with it those because there's going to be a lot of sales on the gen 2's and I'm completely fine that. Don't get me wrong, I'll buy some new gen 3's, but my AR's aren't going to know a difference between the generation on the pmag. I'm just looking forward to the sales!
Just got thinking of this. Was there a problem with the Gen 2's? I haven't had any, and I'm not aware of any routine problems or issues with Gen 2's?

I like the Gen 2 w/windows.. but hell Ill be able to get the Gen 2's at a good rate and then just add 5-6 gen 3's to the bundle |

Magpul's website says that Gen 3s will be shipping November 1.

Magpul's website says that Gen 3s will be shipping November 1. Yeah, got an email from them saying the same. They're going to keep the existing Pmag (Rev M) as the Pmag MOE and delete the dust cover. The M3 will cost an extra buck or so and keep the cover. I look forward to seeing the new Pmags. |

From Magpul's Facebook Page Magpul is proud to announce the release of the GEN M3 PMAG and new pricing for the existing PMAG, which will continue to be produced as part of the MOE line.
The existing PMAG will now be priced at an MSRP of $12.95 and an MSRP of $15.95 for the Window version, and will now be known as the PMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M2 MOE. Once existing supplies of the GEN M2 PMAGs are exhausted, they will begin shipping in MOE packaging, and will not include dust covers. All colors will continue ... to be available. The PMAG 30 AR/M4 GEN M3 will begin shipping in black only on 1 Nov, 2012, at an MSRP of $14.95. The Window version will be available soon, at an MSRP of $17.95. Stay tuned for additional content and of course…us giving away PMAGs. Learn more here: http://magpul.com/index.php?id=154 The GEN M3 PMAG is from the PMAG lineage that you already know, but refined and battle-hardened by over 5 years of combat experience. The list of improvements is long, but you can learn more about the GEN M3 development and improvements at: http://www.magpul.com/pmagm3 |

Am I missing something or do the gen 2's now not need the covers?

When they come with the mag from the manufacturer my assumption is that they were needed.

However, during transit and storage the cover does provide protection to the top rounds in the magazine and keeps dust and dirt out as well as can be used as a tool to facilitate magazine disassembly or to unload the mag. |
