According to Midway it is "discontinued by manufacturer". My guess is that MagPul killed the project

40rd. mag is done. We are now on a multi-year wait for the handstop, prior to the abort of that project.

Maybe it will come to fruition, maybe it won't. Timing is everything with a new product. As for the XTM Hand Stop Kit, barring some unforeseen disaster, it WILL be shipping this year. Besides, since we have not taken any money for it and therefore don't owe anyone anything, what's it to you when we actually end up shipping? It will be ready when it's ready. I just don't get why people get so bent out of shape when they can't get exactly what they want right damn now. Makes me wonder why we bother giving a heads-up on anything...

I think you mean well, but this comment comes across as being anti fan base. You ought to think about rephrasing what you meant. We all have bad days from time to time and stuff slips out, but saying "we don't owe you anything" comes across all wrong. Hey you guys announced a product, you got some interest in it (opportunity for you guys) and then when folks inquire about it before they go buy a Surefire or something else and you say that! Well I know what I think. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though. Now seize the opportunity to rephrase and tell us what you really meant to say. Edit: I realize that this is a tech forum, and these comments may be out of place, but hopefully you see my point. If not feel free to delete. |

Oh, I love our loyal fans and appreciate their enthusiasm. However, you would not believe how many times people get downright nasty and rude when they have no patience. Our phones and emails blow up constantly with people who "need" our new products RIGHT NOW... Here I responded to a snide comment that was insinuating all we do is lead the consumer on and/or never finish any projects. I'm sorry if you took my comments the wrong way, but these diatribes need to be snipped in the bud. |

Not for nothing M4, all you had to do was scroll down 4 posts & you would have seen the other thread on this. Why start a new one? And your comments makes me wonder if you may be the one with a motive here. As justin may agree from my past posts I'm not a magpul fanboy but they do work.
A 40 pmag would be great but so far I haven't had issues with my surefire 60's & have some great working c products 40 rd mags that I use. |

As far as my intentions, It was nothing more than pointing out that it didn't look good for you to say as a representative of Magpul that Magpul doesn't owe anybody nothing, and you'll get it when and if you'll get it. Glad to see it was just a knee jerk response. ...and yes for the other poster, I own 2 CTR stocks, 1 MOE stock, a UBR stock plus a set of MBUS, a crap load of PMags and some assorted xtm panels. Hardly bashing Magpul if that was what you were thinking. |

Hardly bashing Magpul if that was what you were thinking. No not at all. No harm, no foul. I will state though that we do not owe anyone a heads-up on what our plans are for new products. And when we do choose to give a sneak peek we also do not owe an explanation as to why we picked a particular release date, why that date may or may not change, why product features may change, etc., etc. Regardless, I believe we are still more open about our business practices than probably any other manufacturer in these forums. We just try to have honest communication with our customers and treat them in a fair and reasonable manner. I am very passionate about our company and what we do, so when people like that other poster reply in a snide way I suppose I sometimes do get a little upset. My apologizes...... |

You only hear certian people bitch about stuff not being out because paitent people like myself don't speak out much.....because we have nothing to bitch about.
Personally, I would like to see Magpul do AK stuff, mainly grips and MOE style handguards. I mention this once in awhile, because I want you to know that I'm interested, but you won't hear me bitch about you not making this stuff, because it's your business and you have the right run it how you see fit. And when the hand stop or the 40 rounder happens, it happens. I'll probably try one of the hand stops on my 6920 (currently has a MOE foregrip on a MOE handguard) when they come out, but the grip works just fine for now. Just keep making great products, and the majority of your customers will stay happy. |

Like Justin said, they don't owe anybody anything. Would I love to have some 40rd pmags? Absolutely, but I'm not going to bitch about it. |

I always assume ANY product from ANY vendor in this industry is vaporware until it actually gets delivered to my door... best policy to avoid disappointment.

Anyway, are there any pics out of the handstop yet? Link? Thanks Sorry, I have been on this form for 6 years. I asked to change my sign-on but as you know, that is not going to happen. So I just setup a new account. Just to clarify, I simply made a statement. It is Magpuls prerogative to release what products they deem. Drew |

Dont offer a product you have no plans of making and no one will bitch about it. |

Don’t they know it can make them a lot money? That by itself should be enough motivation.

As stated before on these forums...
The PMag40 project was put on hold a while back so we could incorporate the new M3 technology into it. Now the M3 R&D project is finished the PMag40 will come off of hold. |

I've been wanting 40 rd PMAGs for several yrs so I hope that threads like this one are the sqeaky wheels getting greased (that's how things happen, right?). If people don't actually make a stand and say "WE WANT 'EM!" maybe nothing will come out of it. Not only do I love 30 rd PMAGs and use them in my ARs, but I've also passed positive feedback about them on to fellow shooters about their quality and hope they will enjoy them too. As a result, I feel like I have sort of invested in the company, enough so to state a realistic wish (in this case 40 rd mags!) and hope it comes to being. Waiting is part of the fun and I don't expect things "right damn now", but after a few yrs of waiting, things could slowly begin to happen.
