Has Magpul officially cancelled the 40 round pmag variant yet? Weren't these supposed to come out a year ago?

I looked on midwayusa s website and it said it was discontinued by the manufacturer.

That's a shame as I think you would have sold quite a few of these........especially this year.

That sucks, but hell I would have only bought 1 or 2 anyway so it's not like you're losing much.

Nordic Components makes a pmag extension that would get you to that capacity. Obviously would be nicer to just have a 40 round pmag but it works.

I've found I just don't have a use for 40-rounders. Thirty rounders make a nice efficient package size unless you're willing to step up to something like the SF60. Forty round mags are kind of in a weird spot now with the SF60 on the market.

QFT

I thought Magpul had plans or a patent for a quad stack mag a couple years ago.

IIRC.... They have a patent for one, but they weren't developing it. The work was being done on the double-stack 40-rounder. I wonder what the payback horizon looks like to them for developing a high-cap quad stack now that the Surefires are already on the market.

Also, I'd love to know how well the Surefires are selling. I got the 60-round version for $90 shipped last December and have never seen it cheaper. It's been super reliable and fun, but I just don't see it ever being more than a range toy for me.
