Got a box of 77gr Razor Core IMI to try out. Much to my surprise, I had four blown primers in then rounds, and bad case head swipe on all the rounds, out of an old reliable AR that I have never had an issue with. Not to mention, some not so great groups too.

Anyone else had this happen?

The ammo is known to be hot

90 F, and the ammo was in the shade, as was the gun.

I have shot plenty of IMI Razor Core out of both of my built AR's with zero issues. I agree that it is a little hot.

I just got a newer lot of it. Put some downrange in the M85, 16" and 20" ar, without issues. Sam at SG has commented that the 69gr and 77gr are a touch hot.

i just had a similar situation with ammo that always been GTG, until i left mine sitting in the sun.

as for razor 77gr, i've gone thru 3 lots from the past 3-4 years without issue.

what lot number ya got there?

I posted last year issues with this ammo in several Colt and LMT M4s - it was in same box.  Am shooting some different lot in brown box with no issues in same Colt / LMTs

What lot do you have ? And what upper/barrel ?

I have had some blow on me also, don't have the lot numbers. Happens from time to time with most of the Military ammos I shoot. Only one never happened on was a LC head stamp.

Question...why does the bottom of the brass look so "chewed" up?  Optical illusion or actual damage to the brass?  If it's the latter, may be the cause of your primer issue.

2 weeks ago, 78 degrees outside, shooting from a covered firing line. Douglas 5.56 SPR barrel.

Weigh all your loaded rounds. It would be interesting to see if there is a huge deviation amongst the few you have left.
Israeli ammo does not deviate much. Around 200 grains is average.
Also, where is the fourth spent case with the popped primer?
Why is one of the spent cases primer sealant green instead of red?

Lot 229/F was the lot that gave me issues in the COLTS and LMTs.  Prior lots didn't have that issue and some newer stuff seems to be ok as well.  The brown box branded IMI seems to be ok, I've only had issues with the green commercial packaging

That is from the round being too,hot and excessive pressure blowing primer out . The "chewed up" marks are from where case is in contact with ejector and extractor

Shoot an e-mail to IMI and let them know about it.

Could be the lot or your chamber? What type of rifle, barrel, chamber? I shot some IMI recently in my new Ballistic Advantage 223 Wylde and didn't have any blown primers. I shot all 4 of their offerings. 55, 62, 69 and 77.

I've had a few boxes of the 69gr Razorcore I picked up from SG that I finally got to shoot over the weekend.  I had about 6 or 7 blown primers out of a 20 round box (along with pretty bad ejector swipes).

Barrel is a 16" Rainier Rock Creek with a Wylde chamber.  Temperatures were about 85* but the gun and ammo were kept in the shade.  Gun was also shot suppressed.

Thinking it could be my gun, had a buddy try 5 rounds out of his rifle with a 14.5" DD MLGS CHF barrel (unsuppressed).  He had one primer pop out of those 5, so I'm thinking it's the ammo.

I'll post up the lot number when I get home.

ETA:  Forgot to add, my ammo was in the brown cardboard packaging, not the green commercial boxes.  I still have some 77gr Razorcore to try out next time I get to the range.

Make sure to update us! I just purchased 1000 rnds of the same Lot of 77gr. The Razorcore ammo is definitely hot, but I have preferred it to Black Hills.

I bought 100 rounds of 77gr to test, because I'm going to handload either that or the 75gr Hornady for my Tavor.

I only shot 5 rounds, only out there for about 10 minutes before shooting, but I didn't have any issues. Temp was 94f, this was a few days ago. I wasn't exposed long enough for the ammo to heat up either. Shoot, I can't stand it very long anymore.

Only one of the cases had any  marks at all, and it had a very slight swipe, but nothing that isn't normal with NATO spec ammo in a 5.56 chamber. I don't have any AR15s any more, but another member and I go in together on a lot of firearm and reloading stuff, and he has a PSA premium 5.56 w 1/7 twist, and a pre ban Bushmaster H Bar with a 1/9 that we have to test in as well. That Bushmaster shoots like a laser beam with good ammo, and I think it will stabilize the 77gr and 75gr being a 20" barrel and getting the bullet spinning faster with the extra velocity.

Oh, my lot # is 00276/6
