When suggestions are made for a good round, it's always the 77 OTM that is mentioned. I rarely see the 69 OTM ever brought up. For my comparison I am using IMI Razor Core 69gr to IMI and Magtech 77gr
Maybe it's because at longer ranges the 77 is better due to it's BC?
Even for SBRs and pistols, the 77 always gets the nod.
I would think the 69gr being faster out of the gate than the 77gr, it would be good for SBRs and pistols, but I "presume" that just like a longer barrel, the BC of the 77gr makes it better at the outer ranges of a short barrel like 10.5 to 12.5.
Does the 69 gr have it's place where it is well suited?

Both my rifles do sub moa with 69 grain.

Can't say the same for the 75 or 55 grain pills

The 77gr outclasses it in most performance categories but for many 1:9 barrels the 69 SMK is about the best you can get. I've got a couple 69 SMK loads in my big ammo test and they were both loaded relatively light, but what's not in that thread is that both of them delivered pretty good accuracy in short barrels. Better accuracy than many of the 77gr rounds I tested in fact.

I dunno about anyone else, but my hands-down favorite OTC competition round is a 69-grain match burner

Seems to be love for 69gr from 1:9" barrel.

My Colt 20" H-Bar with 1:9 twist really likes 69 grain SMK as does my 16" 1:7 twist Tavor.   I have tried 75's and 77's in the Tavor but it shoots 69 grain SMK best followed by most 55 grain ammo I've tested.

Came to post the above sentiments. For a lot of slower twist barrels 69's are as close to the sun as you dare fly. My 1/8's and 1/7's have all preferred 77's (as do I, fortunately), though 69's usually only shoot a hair looser. Obviously this is very barrel dependent, but it's been consistent in all my precision shooters. For me 69's are what you shoot when your barrel doesn't like 77/75's.

I Loves the 69 in a 1:9...and it will do you fine but the Hornady 55 will truly shine:

For years... prior to 1n7 twists... 69gr FGMM was king.

Came here to post this for 1/7 to 1/9 twist round, it's a good bullet. I also favorite 77 grain Fiocchi Exacta Match for a few of my 1/7's better than my 1/9 bbl's. Fiocchi is underrated imo and is my go to match ammo. I'll push 223MKD out to the 500 yard gong.

I like 69gr as just about every ar15 will be able to shoot 69gr but not every ar15 can shoot 75-77gr.

Fiocchi 69 grain match ammo is the most accurate commercially loaded ammo I tried.  Bar none!

I've tried several dozen brands and bullet weights from 55 to 77 grains.

I have 1-7 and 1-8 twist barrels that are 16 to 20 inches long.

I'm currently in love with Barnes Match Burner 69gr BTHP. It's a touch longer than most others, and my 1-8 and 1-7 rifles seem to like it as much as the 75gr and 77gr BTHPs.

I love 69 otm's handloads or factory loads in 1 in 9's.
